I've been thinking about Noah's ark. It was made of gopher wood and pitched inside and out. I asked myself if the pitch was a fast-ball, a curve, a change-up or... I know they wouldn't have used a sinker.

Cybersalt News
Oh look, Chicken Thursday - welcome to August and (if you are reading this in the PearlyGates newsletter) PearlyGates Edition number 1,000!
This is a very special August 1st for a friend of Grandma Cybersalt and mine: Susan Page, is celebrating her first day of retirement today.
For over 20 years, Susan has served our association as the Church Relations Coordinator and Health Benefits Manager. During this time, many people have viewed her role as purely administrative, often overlooking the immense compassion, kindness, and pastoral care she has provided to everyone she has helped or served. Susan has frequently interacted with individuals during some of the most challenging moments of their lives, including sickness, suffering, and the passing of loved ones. Regardless of the circumstances, she has always been a friendly, caring voice on the other end of the phone.
Susan Page embodies the kind of Christian that both the church and the world need more of today. In a world where righteousness is often equated with anger and conflict toward those who think, believe, or act differently, Susan exemplifies a deep and genuine faith in Jesus. Her faith inspires her to respond with compassion and kindness to those struggling with aspects of their humanity, even when befuddled by their actions or words.
If Susan Page's name rings a bell it is because for months her inspiring devotionals and photos have been featured in Chicken Thursday editions of the Cybersalt Digest. I am very happy that she is not retiring from that! So congratulations Susan Page, Susan (Davis) and I are proud to be your friends and excited for this new season of life which you have begun.
Today's video share either a fun cat video or a cruel cat video. It all depends on whether or not you think cats should be allowed to catch fish in aquariums!

Art Good News/Bad News
An artist asked the gallery owner if there had been any interest in his paintings on display at that time.
"I have good news and bad news," the owner replied.
"The good news is that a gentleman inquired about your work and wondered if it would appreciate in value after your death. When I told him it would, he bought all 15 of your paintings."
"That's wonderful," the artist exclaimed. "What's the bad news?"
"The guy was your doctor."

Appearance of Evil
A man and his wife check into a hotel. The husband wants to have a snack at the restaurant, but his wife is extremely tired so she decides to go on up to their room to rest.
She lies down on the bed... just then, a train passes by very close to the window and shakes the room so hard she's thrown out of the bed.
Thinking this must be a freak occurrence, she lies down once more. Again a train shakes the room so violently, she's pitched to the floor.
Exasperated, she calls the front desk, asks for the manager. The manager says he'll be right up.
The manager is skeptical but the wife insists the story is true. "Look... lie here on the bed -- you'll be thrown right to the floor!" So he lies down next to the wife.
Just then the husband walks in. He yells, "What are you doing here!?!"
The manager calmly replies, "Would you believe I'm waiting for a train?"

Around our Crowded Table
- photo by Susan PageRecently, I had the wonderful opportunity of attending another Momentum Choir performance. The Momentum Choir “is a collective of amazing people striving for community, joy, and hope.” Choir Director, Mendelt Hoekstra is a Music Therapist who felt a calling to begin something new as he recognized the difference music and performance can make in the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
The theme for the night was “Around our Crowded Table” and it was a night of pure inspiration, overflowing with enthusiasm, joy, and love. The feeling was contagious, and the message for the evening was a powerful message of love and acceptance!

A husband, who is not the most outgoing guy, relents to his wife's months of nagging to take her out dancing.
During the evening one guy on the dance floor is giving it large - break dancing, moon walking, back flips, the works.

Over the years, some of the most popular pages on the Cybersalt site have featured Funny Cat Pictures. We have to admit that even though cats often look at humans like they owe the feline world something (remember dogs have owners and cats have staff), cats aren't as bad as a lot of the press that they get.
And so, whether you are a cat lover or tolerator, we hope you enjoy these funny cat pictures. And, of course, if you have any funny cat pictures you want to share with the world, feel free to send them to us to post here.

Some say the world can be divided into two types - cat people and dog people. For the cat people of the planet, Cybersalt has the Funny Cat Archive. For the dog people we have this Funny Dog Pictures archive.
It's dedicated to the memory of Maggie - Pastor Tim and family's dog. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
