Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

I think I mentioned in the past that we're getting a dog park next to Cybersalt World Headquarters. Well today they started working on it. What we've enjoyed for years as just a nice vacant park — grasses, wildflowers, quietly returned to nature — will soon be an exercise area for the dogs of the community. It was super windy while they were digging today, with dust blowing across our yard, so we kept the windows shut and let the heat pumps handle the cooling. As for the dog park coming in? I'm keeping cool about that too.

Today's video share is about a fellow who wanted to leave some happiness and joy for people in the future, so he buried a time capsule. It didn't get dug up this July 4th, but that doesn't really make a difference — and I've always thought Vegas were pretty cool cars.

Greetings everyone!

I got to spend Friday night at my son's birthday party, and it was one of those evenings that just made me smile the whole way through. He had a bunch of his friends over — guys from his church — and we played Stock Ticker. It's an old board game that came out after the Depression, and it's been a family favourite for a couple of generations now.

But here's what got me — he'd programmed it so you can play online. Everyone follows along on their phones and makes their own individual trades. The work he put into that setup was something to see. What made me proudest wasn't just the coding, though — it was watching him enjoy the fact that his friends were enjoying themselves. He's a stand-up guy, and I couldn't be more proud of him.

Yesterday was Canada Day here at Cybersalt World Headquarters — and I guess right across Canada too. So a belated happy birthday to all my fellow Canadians! And this Saturday is July the 4th in the USA, celebrating a big number — 250 years. Happy 4th of July to all my US friends and cousins.

Today's share is a fun little website that lets you punch in your birthday and see what the Hubble Space Telescope was looking at on that day. The picture above was taken on a November 4th — I don't know which November 4th, but a November 4th, and that's good enough for me.

Sunday greetings everyone!

It's been a very busy week here at Cybersalt World Headquarters. With the growing power of artificial intelligence, a lot of folks are using it for good — preemptively finding vulnerabilities in software so they can be patched before anyone gets hurt. Trouble is, plenty of folks are using AI for exactly the opposite, and this week I've been cleaning up after sites that got hit by holes humans never thought to look for in all these years — but AI did.

All things considered, it's a very interesting time to be alive.

Today's video share is a fun Dean Martin and Bob Newhart comedy skit — and the funniest bit isn't the script. It's watching the two of them try (and fail) to keep a straight face while doing everything they can to crack each other up.
