Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

We continue to be thankful for our heat pumps around here. We kept the house closed up all day — first because of the topsoil they're bringing in for the human part of the dog park next to us, which smells a whole lot like a barnyard on a warm afternoon, and then later because the sky went hazy with smoke from wildfires that aren't near us but are close enough that the wind can carry them our way.

Given what so many people are going through with those fires right now, a closed-up house is the only inconvenience I have any business mentioning. So I'm not complaining. I'm grateful.

Today's video share is an Amish community picking up a shed and walking it across to a new spot. It is impressive to watch that many people move that much building by hand, and my only question is why they didn't build it in the right place to begin with!

Sunday greetings everyone - and welcome to August!

Today I want to share an opportunity to support Hannah, who is the daughter of my best friend growing up, who passed away almost five years ago. Hannah is raising support for an internship with the Navigators, where she'll be discipling university students to become more like Jesus.

Two weeks ago she was at 40% of her fundraising goal, and now she's at 70% — praise God! Her deadline is August 15th, and she's looking for a few more core people to join her support team and help her get the rest of the way there. If you'd like to be one of them, you can give here:

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Last weekend was a busy birthday party weekend around Cybersalt World Headquarters. One granddaughter’s party was on Saturday, and another granddaughter’s party on Sunday. Grandma Cybersalt and I hung around the way grandparents do. It’s fun to attend these things and watch our kids do all of the work - the organizing, the disciplining, the parenting. Meanwhile we get to enjoy the blessing of just playing, watching, and being a couple of the people in the room who are magically relaxed.

Today’s video share is the world’s largest pop-up book. If you were hoping for a little light reading this Summer, this is not your book.

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Work is absolutely humming here at Cybersalt World Headquarters. You might remember that a few months back I spoke at a conference about how to have a zero inbox. I am taking my own advice — there's just more work coming in than one person can get to some days. Some nights I count it a win when I'm only looking at a hundred emails. I'm not complaining — I'm grateful for the opportunity — but I'll admit it gets a little overwhelming at times.

Grandma Cybersalt is burning the candle at both ends right along with me, and I'm grateful for her too — even if it means some nights we don't sit down to supper until after 9 o'clock.

Today's video share proves that farmers really are people who are outstanding in their field — but who knew their field could be art? It's a pretty impressive bit of creativity, using what's on hand and a little aerial perspective.
