Cybersalt News

Sunday greetings, everyone.

Sheepish LoveMy friend, Dr. Mark Wagner, turned 65 yesterday. My friend, Dr. Harold McNabb, turned 77 earlier this year. I've always known that as I aged I would probably be seeing physicians more frequently, but I never expected I would be surrounded by old doctors as well!

Today's video share is something is a sheepish way to express your love for some one.

The Head Hog

Side view of a young woman on the phone. The secretary picked up the phone and heard a very "countryfied" voice on the other end saying; "I want to talk to the head hog at the trough!"

Puzzled, the secretary said, "Excuse me sir?"

He repeated; "I want to talk to the head hog at the trough!"

She then realized the man wanted to talk to the pastor.  Somewhat indignant she said, "Sir if you want to talk to our pastor, you will have to address him properly.  You should call him Pastor, or Reverend, or Brother, but you certainly cannot refer to him as the Head Hog at the Trough!"

The man on the other end said in a country drawl, "Oh I just wanted to donate $10,000 to the church."

The secretary promptly replied, "Can you hold please, I think the big pig just walked through the door!"

Egotistical Encounter

Black and white photo of a very old man dressed in white with a white hat and bow tie. When two egotists meet, it's an I for an I.

Quote #2307

Several firework explosions visible at the same time."If you can't see the sun you will be impressed with a street light. If you've never felt thunder and lightning you'll be impressed with fireworks. And if you turn your back on the greatness and majesty of God you'll fall in love with a world of shadows and short-lived pleasures."

- John Piper

One Hundred Dollars from God

A large pile of letters, stamped and ready to sort.A Post Office worker at the main sorting office finds an unstamped, poorly hand-written envelope addressed to God.

He opens it and discovers it is from an elderly lady, distressed because some thief robbed her of 100 dollars. She will be cold and hungry for the rest of the month if she doesn't receive some divine intervention.

The worker organizes a collection among the other postal workers, who dig deep and come up with 96 dollars. They get it to her by special courier the same morning.

A week later, the same postal worker recognizes the same hand-writing on another envelope. He opens it and reads:

"Dear God, Thank you for the 100 dollars. This month would have been so bleak otherwise.  P.S. It was four dollars short but that was probably those thieving crooks at the Post Office."

Rev. James Snyder, God's Penman, writes . . . .

As If I Didn’t Already Know

I've been accused of many things throughout my life, but never having a great memory.A black and white image of a man pulling a bow taut with the arrow cocked.

It's not that I don't try to remember things; I can't remember things I'm supposed to remember. It has nothing to do with my age because it started as far back as I can remember.

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Burro Schmidt tunnelThe security camera at Cybersalt World Headquarters keeps alerting me that it has detected a human, but in reality it is misidentifying a spider who is persistently building a web in that corner of of our carport. It's too bad that part of the training of the AI for that system didn't include watching the movie "Spiderman" so it could be less panicky and about my eight legged friend!

Today's video share is the same as last week's, but last week I forgot to rewrite the description and since the curious tale of Burro Schmidt's Tunnel is such a unique story, I am repeating it just in case someone missed it.

Helpful Executive

An image of shredded paper.A young executive was leaving the office late one evening when he found the CEO standing in front of a shredder with a piece of paper in his hand.

"Listen," said the CEO, "this is a very sensitive and important document here, and my secretary has gone for the night. Can you make this thing work?"

"Certainly," said the young executive. He turned the machine on, inserted the paper, and pressed the start button.

"Excellent, excellent!" said the CEO as his paper disappeared inside the machine. "I just need one copy."

Rejecting Rejection

A desk with laptop, cell phone, pad of paper and a woman's hands preparing to write with a bright blue pen.The next time your application for a job is rejected fill this letter out and send it back.

Dear [Interviewer's Name]:

Thank you for your letter of [Date of Interview].

After careful consideration I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me employment with your firm.  This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field of candidates it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite [Firm's Name]'s outstanding qualifications and previous experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet with my needs at this time.  Therefore, I will initiate employment with your firm immediately following graduation. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future candidates.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Susan Page writes . . . .

The Big One

A grey-scale image of a bare, gnarly tree in a flat, open field.- photo by Susan PageIf we live long enough, we will all experience the big one, and I am not referring to a natural disaster.

Whatever we decide the big one is … 40, 50, 60 or more, these milestone birthdays can bring us to a place of pondering the time we have left on this earth. Milestone birthdays can cause us to reflect on the past and the future. Will we have time to make a positive difference and influence this broken world with the love of Christ? Is now the right time to make disciples? Or more accurately, is there ever a wrong time to pray that by God’s Spirit, we can somehow point someone to Jesus?

catmelonhead150x127.jpgOver the years, some of the most popular pages on the Cybersalt site have featured Funny Cat Pictures. We have to admit that even though cats often look at humans like they owe the feline world something (remember dogs have owners and cats have staff), cats aren't as bad as a lot of the press that they get.

And so, whether you are a cat lover or tolerator, we hope you enjoy these funny cat pictures. And, of course, if you have any funny cat pictures you want to share with the world, feel free to send them to us to post here.

dog_maggie.jpgSome say the world can be divided into two types - cat people and dog people. For the cat people of the planet, Cybersalt has the Funny Cat Archive. For the dog people we have this Funny Dog Pictures archive.

It's dedicated to the memory of Maggie - Pastor Tim and family's dog. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
