Cybersalt News
Sunday greetings everyone.
Today's mailing is going out a little late thanks to fun family times over the weekend and a bad case of heartburn last evening (due to food - not family, lol.)
But with the morning comes a quieter house, a quieter stomach, and 20 minutes before we have to leave the house for church.
Today's video share is a beautiful story of love and a reminder to all of us to make the effort to include more people in our Christmas events - and life events too of course!
Enjoy the rest of today's mailing!

Good Vocabulary
Stressing the importance of a good vocabulary, the teacher told her young charges, "Use a word ten times, and it shall be yours for life."
From somewhere in the back of the room, came a small male voice chanting, "Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda."

Ready or Not, Here I Quit
I do not quit easily. When I start a project, I like to work until it's finished. I hate to quit before something is completed.
One thing I have learned through the years is not to start something unless I have the time and resources to finish it. How many projects I started in the past and somehow ran out of steam or resources and never got to finish it.
When I start a project, I am obsessed with finishing it on time.

Oh look, Turkey Thursday! Yes, in honor of US Thanksgiving, we're giving the chickens a rest today. However, with this week's picture we are giving the turkeys a bit of a rest too.
That is the Quetzalcoatlus Northropi, the largest known flying animal that ever existed! It was a picture suggested to me by Cybersaltine A. Alexander back in February. I think it's a great picture for Thanksgiving, because we can all agree to be thankful that this is not flying around anymore. The savings on windshield deductibles is one reason and - oh yeah - the fact these things aren't around eating us is pretty good too!
Now, you may be wondering why it took from February until now for me to use this picture. With the end of the year approaching I am working on a zero inbox for my emails. I ended last year all caught up on my 2020 emails. This year my goal is to have managed all emails from 2021 and 2019.
For this week's grammar walk of shame, I have to agree that I did not fare very well in last week's news when I reported Cybersalt World Headquarters had "faired" well in the big storm that hit our province. Thanks to J. Pierce, R. Hoskyn, and H. Bruulsema for catching that.
Today's video share is a double header of two commercials that show the dangers of having a smart house that maybe isn't as smart as we would like it to be:

The Night of Thanksgiving
And after all is said and done...the kitchen cleaned up, the football game is over, the kids have FINALLY gone to bed and you lie quietly thinking about your day... your tummy starts to rumble...
'Twas the night of Thanksgiving, But I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep;
The leftovers beckoned --- The dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation with all of my might.
Tossing and turning with anticipation...
The thought of a snack became infatuation...
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
Till all of a sudden, I rose off the ground !!
I crashed through the ceiling...Floating into the sky...
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie,
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees...
HAPPY EATING TO ALL !!
PASS THE CRANBERRIES PLEASE !!

True Worship, Saying Grace, Giving Thanks
A 4-year-old boy who was asked to return thanks before Thanksgiving dinner happily obliged. The family members bowed their heads in expectation.
He began his prayer, thanking God for all his friends, naming them one by one. Then he thanked God for Mommy, Daddy, brother, sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and all his aunts and uncles. Then he began to thank God for the food.
He gave thanks for the turkey, the dressing, the fruit salad, the cranberry sauce, the pies, the cakes, even the Cool Whip. Then he paused, and everyone waited ... and waited.
After a long silence, the young fellow looked up at his mother and asked, "If I thank God for the broccoli, won't he know that I'm lying?"

Any Pie à la Mode Is My Kind of Pie
Choices are a very important part of our everyday life. I am what I am today because of choices I made yesterday. I would like to blame someone else, but the truth of the matter is, I am what I am because of my choices.
I must confess that there are a lot of bad choices I have made throughout my life. I will not name them right here, in fact, I'm trying to forget most of them. It’s a good thing I can’t relive yesterday.
However, I have made a few choices that I have made in my life that has been very good. I don't focus on my bad choices because I can get discouraged. But, I do focus on my good choices because that's a real source of encouragement.

The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
