We went to the movie the other night. I sat in an aisle seat as I usually do because it feels a little roomier. Just as the feature was about to start a baby boomer from the center of the row got up and started working her way out. "Excuse me, sorry, oops, excuse me, pardon me, gotta hurry, oops, excuse me."

By the time she got to me I was trying to look around her and I was a little impatient so I said, "Couldn't you have done this a little earlier?"

"No!!" she said in a loud whisper, "The TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE PLEASE message just flashed up on the screen and mine is out in the car."

I took my son to his first Major League baseball game when he was four. 

The game was delayed, so we spent our time talking and eating everything the concession had to offer:
Hot dogs, pretzels, nachos, pizza, soda, peanuts, ice cream, and cotton candy.

About a year later, I asked my son if he'd like to go to another game. 

He thought about it for a moment and then replied, "No, thanks, Dad.  I'm really not that hungry."

This fellow's wife was constantly nagging him to teach her to play golf. Finally, one morning he relented and off they went. The first hole was a par 3, 179 yards, and very pretty. The husband stepped up first and said, "Now watch me, and do the same thing." He hit a beautiful shot and landed on the green with about 30 feet to the cup.

The wife stepped up, drilled her ball, causing it to hook, ricochet off a tree, bounce off a rock and roll up onto the green - dropping into the cup.

The husband looked at this, and said, "OK, now you know how to play, let's go home."

A young girl was babysitting for the first time - beginning her shift shortly after supper and as the children were playing in front of the house.

At bedtime she sent the youngsters upstairs to bed and settled down to watch TV.  One child kept creeping down the stairs but the young girl kept sending him back. 

At 9 PM, the doorbell rang, it was the next-door neighbor Mrs.  Brown, asking whether her son was there.

The babysitter brusquely replied, "No."

Just then a little head appeared over the banister and a voice shouted, "I'm here Mom but she won't let me go home."

Not since watching the Flintstones have I seen something like these. I didn't even know it was possible outside of classic cartoons and computer generated movie effects. Now I'm a believer.

Le me just say that, for personal reasons some of you may know, this could never happen to me because physically, I am unable to 10 Pin Bowl. Yes, my life is destined to be a 5 Pin Bowling only existence. That's fine - it's not like I don't still have my incredible good looks.

It's dedicated to the memory of Maggie - Pastor Tim and family's dog. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
