Battle of the Dogs

Dog's eyes, so close that neither ears nor snout are visible. The Americans and Russians at the height of the arms race realized that if they continued in the usual manner they were going to blow up the whole world.

One day they sat down and decided to settle the whole dispute with one dog fight. They would have five years to breed the best fighting dog in the world and which ever side's dog won would be entitled to dominate the world.

The Russians found the biggest meanest Doberman and Rottweiler female dogs in the world and bred them with the biggest meanest Siberian wolves.  They selected only the biggest and strongest puppy from each litter, removed his siblings which gave him all the milk and after five years came up with the biggest meanest dog the world had ever seen.

Its cage needed steel bars that were five inches thick and nobody could get near it.

When the day came for the dog fight, the Americans showed up with a strange animal.  It was a nine foot long Dachshund.

Everyone felt sorry for the Americans because they knew there was no way that this dog could possibly last ten seconds with the Russian dog.

When the cages were opened up, the Dachshund came out of it's cage and slowly waddled over towards the Russian dog.  The Russian dog snarled and leapt out of its cage and charged the American dachshund. But, when it got close enough to bite the Dachshund's neck, the Dachshund opened it's mouth and consumed the Russian dog in one bite.

There was nothing left at all of the Russian dog.

The Russians came up to the Americans shaking their heads in disbelief.  "We don't understand how this could have happened. We had our best people working for five years with the meanest Doberman and Rottweiler female dogs in the world and the biggest meanest Siberian wolves."

"That's nothing", an American replied.  "We had our best plastic surgeons working for five years to make an alligator look like a Dachshund."

One-Liner #1963

A woman sitting on the beach, leaning against a rock, eyes closed contentedly. If laziness were an Olympic sport, I would come in 4th just so I wouldn't have to walk up to the podium.

A Strange Ailment

A black and white image of a middle-aged man, dark hair, glasses, thinking with his mouth twisted to his left. This morning I coughed up a pawn, a knight and a bishop.

I must have a chess infection.

Quote #2399

A long boat with 7 people casually rowing, from a distance away."Make sure everyone in your 'boat' is rowing and not drilling holes when you're not looking. Know your circle."

How I Treasure You

Two women sitting at a plank table with a coffee, no faces visible.I've been talking about you a lot with the Lord,
There was so much I wanted to say,
I told Him how thankful and helpful you are,
how I treasure you more every day.

I tried to describe how just having you there
can make things more special and fun.
I said how loyal you are to your friends,
and I thanked him for making me one.

And I told him how much I keep learning from you,
how your faith is inspiring to see.
Then I asked Him if He'd let you know how I feel,
and He said you should hear it from me.

Rev. James Snyder, God's Penman, writes . . . .

This is your Last and Final Warning

A bone-colored vintage telephone, complete with rotary dial and spiral cord to the handset. As a child, I remember my parents saying to me, "I'm not going to tell you this again." The only problem with that was they did tell me again. And again. And again.

It was hard for me to trust my parents along this line. They always gave me warnings, and then when I would do it again, they would give me another warning. I began to realize that they weren't taking these warnings seriously.

The only thing I can think of is that they may not have remembered telling me that in the first place. I can understand that.

Cybersalt News

Oh look, Chicken Thursday - and welcome to October!

camp imadene elkAs suspected, Grandma Cybersalt and I had a great time at Church Camp over the weekend. I came down with a bug on the way home (and I am a bit fevered still) but we have so many good memories. One of my favorite ones was encountering a couple of Roosevelt Elk while out on a walk looking for them. The picture here is a frame I pulled out of some video I shot.

Today's video share is about a subway built for cats. Yes, you read that correctly.

Bathroom Break

A kindergarten aged Asian child with her palms up in a questioning gesture. On the first day of school, about mid-morning, the kindergarten teacher said, "If anyone has to go to the bathroom, hold up two fingers."

A little voice from the back of the room asked, "How will that help?"

It was a hurtful thing to say, and it ruined our bath.

A young couple sitting casually drinking coffee and laughing together.Woman: My mother gave birth to her youngest in a stairwell.

Woman: No. She's actually my step-sister.

Quote #2398

Fore Gone Conclusion

golf surprised groundskeeperI was playing 9 holes at Forest Park in St. Louis with my father, when I made an unbelievable shot that landed about three feet from the hole.

However, I hadn't noticed that there was a greenskeeper who was also about 3 feet from the hole. He jumped back, and I was as startled as he was.

Not sure what to do, I hit another ball, pretending not to know about the first one.

The greenskeeper didn't figure out who hit the ball that almost beaned him, and we moved quickly on to the next tee.

It wasn't the honest and courageous thing to do, but being just a kid was my excuse.

Now that I'm older and more mature, honest and courageous, I probably would act differently.

I'm not sure exactly how, but . . .

Susan Page writes . . . .

The Least of These

A photo of a stormy Lake Ontario with a small lighthouse and big clouds in the sky.It was time for her daily constitutional. Her route was predictable, familiar, and close to home. There were not too many options during the pandemic. Even though she was in her happy place, observing God’s bountiful and majestic creation, she didn’t like that her walks had become a non-contact sport. It made life even more isolating. People would generally pass by on the other side when they approached each other.

On the evening in question, she was plugged in, listening to a podcast, and clipping along at a pretty good pace. Yet even then, she was aware of her surroundings because she usually had her camera handy to photograph something that caught her eye.

catmelonhead150x127.jpgOver the years, some of the most popular pages on the Cybersalt site have featured Funny Cat Pictures. We have to admit that even though cats often look at humans like they owe the feline world something (remember dogs have owners and cats have staff), cats aren't as bad as a lot of the press that they get.

And so, whether you are a cat lover or tolerator, we hope you enjoy these funny cat pictures. And, of course, if you have any funny cat pictures you want to share with the world, feel free to send them to us to post here.

dog_maggie.jpgSome say the world can be divided into two types - cat people and dog people. For the cat people of the planet, Cybersalt has the Funny Cat Archive. For the dog people we have this Funny Dog Pictures archive.

It's dedicated to the memory of Maggie - Pastor Tim and family's dog. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
