As a sales rep for a publisher of accounting reference materials, I was talking to a customer about a guide to assist with preparing for an audit.
The way she described their organization led me to believe they might have an internal audit department.
I asked, "Do you have an in-house auditor?"
"No," she answered. "We have an outhouse auditor."
It was almost three minutes before either of us could stop laughing and continue our conversation.

Grandma Cybersalt and I had a great time at the www.jdayusa.com conference last week in Austin, Texas, and we super enjoyed the extra days we spent there - including the unexpected add-on day after the airline neglected to tell us they had changed our flight home. We found out when we arrived at the airport after it had left!
The is a new devotional from Pastor Suneel Barkat. I admire Suneel because English is not his first language, but he is really putting an effort into writing (and getting good help from Cybersaltine, Walter M.) This month's article is written in a new style for him and I think he's done a great job. Please keep praying for Pastor Barkat and his family. We are "oh so close" to raising the amount needed to bring them to Canada for church planting ministry.

When the U.S. Mint reissued two-dollar bills, I thought they might someday become collectors' items. I went to the bank and picked up a hundred, serially numbered and still in their original band. On my next trip to my parents' house, I gave the $200 to my mother and said, "Take good care of these. They might be worth something someday."
Just recently, I asked Mom if she was keeping the two-dollar bills safe.
"Oh, yes!" she replied. "I deposited them in the bank the day after you gave them to me."
One day you'll be thankful things didn't work out the way you want them to.

After a heavy day's digging at the archeological site in Norway, researchers uncovered a priceless statue of the ancient Norse thunder god. He had bulging muscles and imposing stance, and his famous giant hammer. But most important of all, the eyes in his fierce-looking face were made of two giant rubies that glittered with a brilliant red color.
Of course, the two leading archeologists on the dig were both determined that they should be the one to have their name listed on the discovery. Pretty soon, a big argument was underway. The two provided the others with a great source of amusement for the evening. By the time they finally gave up and called a truce, everyone else was feeling quite refreshed by the entertainment.
As the crowd dispersed, one junior digger turned to his friend, and said, "Well, that was a fight for Thor eyes."

A pastor had had a bad week. On Sunday he was very frustrated and he began his sermon, "Everyone in this parish is going to hell if they don't change their ways."
One man in the back began to laugh.
So the pastor said it again louder.
The man continued to laugh.
The pastor went back to him and asked him why he was laughing.
He answered, "Because I don't belong to this parish!"

Our great-granddaughter served as the focal point of our Christmas this year. She assumed that position because she was born two weeks before Christmas. What a gift.
