One day while I was wearing contemporary clothes instead of my habit, I drove into a gas station to get the communal car filled up.
After the young attendant topped off the tank, he walked toward my car window to return my credit card.
It was clear from his furrowed brow that he had something on his mind.
The young man looked at me shyly and pointed to the convent's name, John XXIII Hall, imprinted on the card.
"Pardon me," he asked hesitantly, "but how do you pronounce your husband's middle name?"

There is the Law of Gravity - And then, there is the Law of Parenthood
A child's behavior will improve in proportion to the distance she is away from the parent.
Two is equal to two, except when referring to time. Two minutes of tantrum lasts 20 times as long as two minutes of quiet time.
The choice of a preschooler's best friend corresponds directly to the distance the friend lives from your house.
A child's enjoyment of a popular entertainment will be inversely proportionate to the parent's enjoyment.
The chance of a surprise visit by your parents-in-law is directly proportional to the size of the mess in your home.
A child will always eat exactly what she has loved for the past year unless it is the only food in the fridge.
The ease with which a toddler acquires the ability to say a word increases with its likelihood to embarrass a sailor.

From time to time there are people who just do stuff that is simply unbelievable not only from the stand point of what they did, but also in response to the question of why on earth they would do it. (In the beginning a few people thought exactly that way of my wife for marrying me. Today that number has increased.)
Anyway, it's not like she did something totally crazy like Les Stewart. Les manually typed out each number between one and a million on a typewriter. I don't know what brand of typewriter he used, but as you can read below he wore out 7 of them.
I wonder if he ever tried to get a corporate sponsor. He seems like just the guy that Smith-Corona, IBM, or Toshiba would give a Porche to drive around when he went out for a new ribbon.

"Several years ago, we were rehearsing 'Little Women' for our Garland Civic Theatre.
The older gentleman who was playing the father's part was wearing a hearing aid.
We wondered why he kept missing his cues until we discovered that it was not a hearing aid.
He was listening to a ball game."

Glenelg, Maryland is such a small community, I was surprised that they had a community paper. I asked one old-timer about it.
He replied, "We all know what everybody else is doing, but we like to read the paper anyway to see who's been caught at it."

Some say the world can be divided into two types - cat people and dog people. For the cat people of the planet, Cybersalt has the Funny Cat Archive. For the dog people we have this Funny Dog Pictures archive.
It's dedicated to the memory of Maggie - Pastor Tim and family's dog. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
