Nothing in this world is perfect. We strive to be perfect, to be accepted, to win, but things don't always work out the way we plan every time.

Today, the girls' soccer team, which are in first place, went to face a losing team, one that wasn't even in the running to place. Our girls found that, although they are strong players, not easily intimidated, things can change quickly.

2 Corinthians 9:6-15 

I love hearing stories of faith. I especially love the ones in which someone up against incredible odds puts their faith God, and follows the Lord's plan rather than their own. That takes courage.

Many of you will remember the story Del Wergeland shared with us. For those of you who don't know her, Del is a nurse and committed believer who went with a group from her congregation, First Nazarene Church in Victoria, to Honduras following Hurricane Mitch. They pitched in to help, and then came back to report on what they had seen. She was so moved that she began a local drive to collect relief materials and then deliver them to the people of Honduras. Her willingness to go all-out for God has led to the establishment of Victoria's Compassionate Warehouse ministry¹. Through multiple miracles of God, Del and her volunteers annually send out hundreds of tons of supplies around the globe. I cannot begin to tell the numerous stories of God's incredible and really miraculous grace that seem to be commonplace with Del and her group.

My husband and I spent several days in sunny Southern California.  There are very few places on this earthly planet we call home that displays the glory of God through its beautiful weather more than there.  The days were sunny and beautiful.  The air was crisp as we traveled high up in the mountains.  The nights cooled down so swiftly when the sun in the heavens moved over to another part of God's world.

Describe Jesus Christ--call Him a teacher, a prophet, a good man, the Son of God--but whatever your beliefs, at some point, you will exhaust the capabilities of the English language, or any language, to fully portray the wonders and mysteries of His Being. To the born-again Christian, He is truly indescribable. He is more, He means more, than human language can adequately express.

We know, without qualification, that He is the Son of God, the One able to meet every human need. But we must present Him to our world in understandable, graspable words so each human being has opportunity to know Him. And we must answer His call. For He Himself has commissioned each Christian to proclaim His Name throughout all the earth.
