Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Grandma Cybersalt and I are back from our trip. We had a really nice visit with our eldest daughter, her family, and my mom and dad. The conference Susan attended was excellent as well.

One of the blessings on this trip was my meeting with my natural father. It was the first time in almost 29 years that we have been in the same room. Jesus has been working in his life and that has made room for a reconciliation to sprout in the last 14 months. God has helped me in so many ways during the years of our estrangement and I had long ago forgiven my father, but there were still things that could not be resolved within me unless they came freely from he himself.

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Today, Grandma Cybersalt is at her conference and I am spending time with my parents. Mom, who is in the early stages of some type of dementia, said she was holding on to see me this visit. I suggested she might want to hold on and see me on my next visit, but she said she didn't think so. I always try to make the most of my visits, so if this is the last one I will be grateful for it.

Sunday greetings, everyone!

Grandma Cybersalt and I are having a good trip. Today we took (and watched) our 11 year old grandson to his football practice and game and then we went to a huge farmer's market with all kinds of products from the large, local Mennonite community. Highlights of the market were my back bacon burger, freshly made hickory smoked bacon potato chips, and Susan's freshly made apple fritters. We bought too much of everything, but I am sure we'll get help from our daughter and her family!
