A Call For Death

Details

This entire week, the television has been swamped with news about the Terri Schiavo case. This is a woman who has lived for fifteen years with a feeding tube, but nothing else to keep her alive. A feeding tube gives her the same nutrients you and I get from a glass of water or the food we eat. It just happens to be liquid.

So many say this woman ?has a right to die?, but I feel she also ?has a right to life?. How easy it is to believe that anyone in her condition would just want to give up on life, because of the way ?WE? perceive her to be in her body. In fact, many say she's ?not there?. How do we know when someone isn't in their body, when their body is so alive? Who are we to give directions to live or die? Who are we to take something like this in our own hands? If her life has been sustained on the feeding tube for these many years, and has no other sicknesses or diseases in her body, why isn't it okay to let her live until the Lord gets ready to take her home?

How ironic that this situation is playing out during Holy Week, and her seventh day without food and water will be Good Friday. I wonder if the Judge realized what was taking place this week, when he set the date for her feeding tube to be removed. I sort of doubt it, since he's been so adamant  . . .

Carl Edwards - Two Days, Two Wins

Details

Two wins in two days means two backflips from NASCAR's new star Carl Edwards.

A few NASCAR drivers before him have taken on the grueling task of driving in both the Busch and Cup Series. But none can claim the spectacular emergence of Carl Edwards.

Saturday's win in the Aaron's 312 at Atlanta Motor Speedway boosted him to #1 in that series. Exactly one day later, Edwards, on the final lap, got a great run on Jimmie Johnson coming out of turn two and slipped by him for the Golden Corral 500 Cup win.

"This is the biggest win of my career," Edwards said after the Saturday race. Sunday he was too excited to top that expression. In fact, Edwards was nearly speechless as he grasped for words to thank his sponsors and others who have helped him tremendously in his bid to become a NASCAR driver.

His car owner, Jack Rousch, could be seen heartily congratulating Carl on his second win in as many days.

A Holy Week Crime...Murder in Minnesota

Details
Written by: Peggie Bohanon

Come with me to the Holy Week events as our Lord suffered and died that He might redeem mankind--including the high school teen whose reign of terror resulted in the murder of 9 persons, along with others critically ill. He, our Lord, has been there - He knows, understands and feels our own personal pain--and He's there with you right now.

The Crime - Monday's Terror

Terror filled the hearts of faculty and students as a young teen went beserk, shooting at random a security officer, a teacher, and his classmates. And terror, too, filled the hearts of the disciples as they fled from those who sought to wound and kill their Savior.

Murder? Grief? Tears? Pain? It's Holy Week--He understands and suffered for us all.

Jesus Is Pure Gold

One thing I have learned over the last while from Valerie is to be a better tipper. Not that I was cheap or anything, but I would leave a ten percent tip and figured that was enough. I have seen the light! Now I have learned to leave a decent tip of fifteen percent. It's amazing the difference it makes at a restaurant or cafe you attend regularly. People really like to welcome you and make you comfortable. Who woulda thought it?
Here is a story of a waitress who gets a tip she will never forget:

Franchesca Renderos, 22, was working as a waitress on an ordinary Wednesday night in Houston when she was stunned by grace.

At one of her tables sat Doug Brown, a mortgage broker trying to attract the business of six female real estate agents. When Franchesca came up to the table, Doug asked, "What would be the most special tip you could have? A pair of shoes, a purse?" She responded, "No, I need a car."

The Passion Of The Christian

Details
Written by: Rev. Spence Laycock
Published: 18 March 2005
Have you ever heard of the phrase 'the Passion of Christ?? Maybe you remember it from the Mel Gibson movie that had a similar title. Perhaps you've heard of the Passion Play at the Rose Bud theatre? The question that sits at the back of our minds however, is what does the Passion of Christ mean or refer to? The word ?passion? in Acts 1:3, in the King James version, is most often translated as the word 'suffering?. Its? meaning is, 'to feel, or have a sensible experience?. The term 'the Passion of Christ?, refers to the very real feelings that Jesus experienced as our Redeemer and Justifier. But it is not just the suffering of Christ that is the subject, as if the suffering were the main thing that was supposed to capture our attention, the passion of Christ refers directly to the purpose of why He was willing to undergo suffering. The Passion of Christ will refer to His perseverance, His suffering and His accomplishing the purposes of the Father in salvation. I want to lay out a few verses of scripture where this same word for passion is used, which will take us into our topic this morning.

?For just as the (PASSION) sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.?
