Sunday greetings, everyone.

Ladybower Reservoir Plug HoleI attended a men's group trivia night at our church last night and while driving home afterward I noticed the line up was really short at the local Dairy Queen. We've been having some hot days around Cybersalt World Headquarters and last night was easily one of warmest evenings we will get all year, so when I got home I asked Grandma Cybersalt if she had already had dessert.

She answered that she had, but when I told her about the short line at Dairy Queen she was very enthusiastic to celebrate a second dessert. I think some of her excitement was because she already knew small cones were on sale for 1 dollar, which is fine with me because I had enough points for a free blizzard. So that was a pretty cheap date!

Maybe next we'll go on a date to the grocery store or gas station and see if we get lucky - with the prices that is!

Today's video share, is not only interesting, but it comes with a challenge. While watching it I noticed something really odd. I wonder how many of you will catch it too. Either way, "Ladybower Reservoir's Plug Hole" is pretty interesting - no disrespect intended!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Alex ShaneIt's a somber, but grateful, week here at Cybersalt World Headquarters. God has taken back a precious gift he gave me 2 years ago. Alex Shane started out as a mentor and business coach and ended up a very close friend. He passed away on Tuesday night, leaving behind a legacy of many other lives that God touched through him. Blessed be the Name of God.

As an update on my shop cleanup, I took a bunch of e-waste (a computer and lots of parts and cables) to the recycling place this week. I'm pretty sure I didn't throw out anything as rare as the computer in today's video share, but if I did, I hope it gets discovered by these restorers working on getting a lunar module guidance computer up and running again!

Sunday greetings, everyone.

bears fishingOne of our granddaughters was over yesterday while her parents had a busy day getting ready for a family road trip they are about to leave on. On the agenda was the usual: pretty much whatever she wanted. This included laying on the grass under the trampoline, catching bugs, a walk to the nearby "zip-line" park, and helping to cook supper (I helped too by hunting down a chicken at Costco.)

I did manage to steal her away to watch the qualifying for tomorrow's marble race on YouTube, cheering on team O'rangers who are in 1st place for the season so far! After that she wanted to watch more videos. I asked her what she wanted to watch and she answered, "Anything!" I explained to her we did not want to just watch anything on YouTube, but after a bit of scrolling I did find something else that would be suitable.

That video (actually a live stream) is today's video. I hope you will enjoy watching "Brooks Falls - Katmai National Park" until you get called for lunch - just like we did!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday - and if you like the number 47, welcome to issue #4747!

golden beetleDo you know what I struggle with managing? Bacn! No, that is not a typo for the word "bacon" (which my low-fat diet all but forbids me to eat) - I mean "bacn."

I think we are all familiar with unsolicited emails being referred to as "spam" - the same name for a very mysterious sandwich meat. Well, "bacn" is a term for emails we have requested. For instance, each time my security camera is triggered to record something in my driveway, I get an email alerting me and giving me a link to watch a recording.

Another example of bacn would be the news updates I receive from the online bank through which my business receives payments from my international clients. Why, I dare say, this newsletter is an example of bacn - in that you subscribed to receive it (for which I am grateful.)

When it comes to emails I would like to have a zero inbox. I desire to read and deal with all the emails in my inbox by either deleting them or filing them away for further reference, thus freeing me from the visual and mental clutter of being behind on my emails. But bacn can really make that a challenge, because just like the ongoing tidying process in my shop, "e-decluttering" requires I make emotional decisions to stop receiving some emails I "might" get around to someday. Sometimes I just give in and select all of a certain kind of email and delete them en masse, but, of course, that's just a different kind of clutter and waste of time.

How is your bacn situation? Do you have any emails that you keep getting that you could unsubscribe from to help declutter your inbox and mind? But not the Cybersalt Digest, right? I hope talking about this topic doesn't generate too many unsubscribe notices in my inbox today -  that's some of the worst bacn I get, lol!

Today's video share is "10 Beautiful Beetles That Look Like Jewelry." I'm still not sure I could let them crawl on me, though.

Sunday greetings, everyone. This is actually the mailing I lined up to go out last Sunday, but on Thursday I noticed it hadn't gone out as planned so here it is again today, which explains why some of the numbers are a tad bit out of order!

Amazing Grace (Live from Sing! 2021) - Keith & Kristyn Getty Ft. Dana Masters & Kirk WhalumBack in the beginning of June, I mentioned a friend of mine in Pakistan was going to start writing some devotionals for the Cybersalt Site. I am happy to report that his first item is now up on the site. You will find a link to the full article, and his bio, below.

I am also happy to say that Cybersaltine N. Grant has volunteered to help Suneel with his English and polish his presentation. He hasn't started doing that yet because I am behind on introducing them, but that is going to be a big help!

Today's video share is a beautiful arrangement and performance of "Amazing Grace." The truth in the lyrics of that song are always a welcome reminder!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

ss slo mo 360 dropMy shop cleanup project is coming along. My progress was slowed for 3 days due to a sprained ankle (not due to tripping on clutter), but I now have a clear path to the back corner. Now all I have to do is tidy/toss/clean my my back to the door!

Today's video share reminds us that sometimes making a mess can be a beautiful thing!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

dirty rug gets cleaned upOne of the signs that tells me I am tired and need a break is when I notice an increase in wanting to reply to some of the stupid things people post on social media. I'm not going to go into details because as my friend says to me, "Better Tim, not bitter Tim!" I know not much good comes from adding my sarcastic or trolling thoughts to the collection (as hilarious as they are, lol.)

I have also been abstaining from participating in the culture wars online. Like in any war, the objective of both sides is to beat the other side down to capitulation and then take them captive and control them. Most of the social battles our world is divided over are not going to be solved by conquering the other side. When those on both sides of an argument refuse to give even an inch, there can be no victories along the way in gaining common ground.

I would rather be 100 feet closer to someone who disagrees with me than forever 200 feet away from them. I am not arguing for compromising what one holds, I just think that by meeting in the middle, or some other point, the other side may want to travel further back with me.

Speaking of dirty stuff, today's video share is of a rug being cleaned. Don't ask me why, but I enjoyed watching "Dead Relatives Wish Was To Have This Rug Cleaned."

Sunday greetings, everyone.

cluttered shopI mentioned last weekend I was in Port Angeles, Washington, USA. The idea for that trip began when a client of mine from the UK told me he was travelling to Port Townsend, WA for a memorial service. It was nice to meet him.

For the rest of my time "over there" I stayed with my Good friend, Juan Ruiz, who also lives near Port Angeles. Some of the time we spent together involved Juan and I decluttering some of the things he had accumulated over 20 years in his tech business. During one of our sessions I disabled over 100 hard drives, to make the data on them unreadable, while he pulled apart some servers and other equipment.

That decluttering was a good warmup for doing the same thing for my business. While I almost have victory over clutter at my desk, the same cannot be said for my shop. In recent years I have really been noticing the energy drain that comes from clutter which slowly enables the things I own to begin to own me. But I am happy to say that in the last two days I have been making great progress. My shop is becoming emptier and the back of my pickup truck fuller in anticipation of a trip to the dump. I can even walk around in front of my work bench now and I am excited about finishing the job!

If you have a space in your home or workplace that has been messing with your peace of mind, why not take an hour and do a bit of tidying and throwing out? It might inspire you to do even more!

Enjoy the rest of today's mailing.
