Sunday greetings everyone.

Anastasiia Tiurina (7 years) "Valenki" balalaikaIf you remember a time in the past that you forgot Valentine's day and doing so created awkwardness and pain in some way, remember that tomorrow is Valentine's Day!

Speaking of Valentine's Day, Grandma Cybersalt and I will not be getting each other anything, just as we did for each of our last birthdays and Christmas. Back in the fall we splurged and replaced most of our 25+ year old carpets with new flooring. We're still enjoying (and paying for) that so we're all good for now!

Todays video share is a lovely performance by a 7-year-old Anastasiia Tiurina "Valenki" on an instrument that is new to me: a balalaika.

Oh Look, Chicken Thursday!

ajrak traditionThere was no mailing last Sunday. Grandma Cybersalt and I enjoyed a full house with some of our kids and grandkids visiting on the weekend! Since I am the night owl of the two of us, Susan turned in early and I stayed up to work on a few things. It was not until 4:00am on Sunday morning that I finished writing the news and then noticed Susan had not lined up the content for the Sunday issue. At that point I opted for some sleep for myself, lol.

Today's video share is a fun one inspired by seeing some of my grandkids playing with Hot Wheels track when they were here. Their setup was about 2,166 feet shorter than this world record setup. The boy in me still would love to have this much track!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Chicken Coop toilet seat doorThank you for your kind words and suggestions after I shared about my probable ulcer a few weeks back. I have not had any further problems since I started taking the medication. I am to take it daily for 60 days and will be following up with my doctor. It's nice to not have the added stress of falling behind in my work because of the effects of stress!

To reduce stress, I am working on some of the constantly spinning brain reminders of what I need to catch up on. For instance, I have hired my first employee. While hiring someone was a first for me, and as such came with its own stress, it is now working out really well! The business side of Cybersalt can now grow, which it needs to do, without all the work falling on me. Speaking of which, if you have a website that needs a refresh, or doesn't work well on mobile devices, or have some other need in the online world, email me at [email protected] and let's talk!

Another thing I am doing has been making progress on my quest to catch up on my emails and have a zero inbox. Proof of my march to success is the image in today's news. Thanks to M. Robertson who share it with me on November, 16, 2019.  Today's PearlyGates item also came from an old email from B Black. Now, my inbox is not that bad - I have already dealt with emails from 2020!

Today's video share is of some oddly satisfying manufacturing processes. It's really fascinating to see how some things are made!

Sunday greetings everyone.

ajrak traditionHappy birthday to Grandma Cybersalt! That's right, she has completed another trip around the sun and we are both very grateful for that! Both of our ages are starting to get up there, but we realize the only alternative to having more birthdays is to stop having them so onward we press!

Speaking of birthdays, yesterday was Bill Romahn's birthday. Who is that you ask? Bill, and his wife Beth are long time subscribers who blessed me with a visit when they were in my city years ago. We did a very Canadian thing and met for coffee at Tim Hortons and I remember that time often! Bill crossed the country with a box of material for the Cybersalt Digest. He has a keen eye for great content, undoubtedly from his years of speaking and speech writing for the federal government. While the speed of copying and pasting material on the computer more often suits my crowded schedule best, I still have the box and thought I'd dip into it to share this bonus item:

A grade school teacher was grading a science test on the human body. The first question was "Name one of the major functions of your skin." One child had written: "To keep people who look at you from throwing up."

Thanks again, Bill!

Todays video share may prove to be timely if you are one of the many people who struggle with what to do with your excess camel dung. If you are crafty you might take up the amazing, ancient process of Ajrak!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

America's Funniest Home Videos - Episode 1The last 7 days have been very interesting around Cybersalt World Headquarters! A week ago Wednesday, our youngest daughter, her husband and their two little children came to stay with Grandma Cybersalt and me for 2 nights while some rooms at their house were painted.

Unfortunately the person they hired to do the painting was not a very good painter. Honestly, the job they did was so bad I could have done it better! He even broke the internet connection to their house, lol. This meant that after hiring a different company to fix and finish the painting job, our cozy cohabitation extended to a full week. We've had a fun time with the little people and their routines. We've also enjoyed having those two grandkids around too!

Today's video share is of another person who isn't a very good painter:

Sunday greetings everyone.

We Popped The WORLD’S LARGEST BALLOON!There was no mailing last Chicken Thursday because I was not feeling very well when it came time to put the final touches on the issue and send it out.

I have been having stomach problems on and off for the past year. At first some diet changes were helping, but in the last couple of weeks there have been a couple more painful episodes. Not all the diagnostic tests I should have are available right now (a number of our local medical labs are closed due to short-staffing because so many workers have COVID) but my doctor has begun treating me for an ulcer because that is what the symptoms point to. To be completely open, it was probably stress that caused the recent flare ups.

The above is really more details than I would usually go into here, but stomach ulcers are one of those medical things that can come with a stigma, especially in the Christian community where worry and anxiety are viewed by some as a failure to trust or have faith in God. Many of the people who default to this view forget that when Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, knowing the time for his crucifixion was close, his sweat was like drops of blood. Many believe that was hematohidrosis, a condition brought on by incredible stress. Given what Jesus knew was coming, as he willingly became the sacrifice for the sins of the world, I am one of those people who believes it was just that.

Now, I am not putting my stress on par with what Jesus faced. But my sister's passing at the end of 2021 did have my stomach in knots - and my mind in numb - for many days. That piled a load on top of other stress I have because of my business, which is growing and stretching me to grow in areas that are very new to me. I know many people wished they had that problem, but it's a problem just the same because even in good things, being outside of one's comfort zone still can take a toll.

The fact is, life happens to all of us and sometimes that means there will be valleys we pass through that impact us physically, mentally and/or emotionally. In Psalm 23, David took comfort that God was with him in those valleys. That is an encouraging reminder to me and all of us who have placed our faith in Jesus. He is with me/us too. Many of David's other Psalms (and his life story) also encourage me because there were many times when David was a hot mess because of stress! Basically, depending on what you read from David, one ends up either wanting to be more like him or less!

If I do indeed have an ulcer, I am confident God will bring me through and teach me what I need to learn about myself and the course forward from here. I'm not going to add stress to myself by pretending I don't have stress because some people want to be "judgy" to help them ignore the reality that they may not always be able to prevent the effects of stressful times in their own life.

Today's video share is stress related; in a fun way. I regularly watch the YouTube channel, "How Ridiculous." The three young lads on this channel have fun doing ridiculous things that are a ridiculous source of entertainment for me, such as popping the world's largest balloon.

Sunday greetings everyone.

ss Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha apaiGrandma Cybersalt and I woke up to a tsunami warning yesterday. That sounds far more dramatic than it actually was because even though Cybersalt World Headquarters is only a few thousand feet away from the ocean it is also about 250 feet above sea level. We were totally safe.

There was a lot of news coverage of the volcanic eruption that spawned the warnings. I must say that volcano has my favourite volcano name of all time: Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai. If we ever get another dog, I might just name it that so I can be heard calling it's name throughout the neighbourhood if he or she ever goes missing!

I tried Googling what Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai means but was unsuccessful in finding any answer. My guess is, "Big Lonely One." That would explain why it desperately waved at millions and millions of people yesterday!

Today's video share is more about the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai eruption.

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

America's Funniest Home Videos - Episode 1I was sorry to hear that Bob Saget, the host of America's Funniest Home Videos, passed away this past week. It bought back a flood of memories from a time when the availability and delivery of funny home videos meant gathering around a TV at home at the same time each week. The times have certainly changed!

Today's video is a nostalgic look back at the first episode of AFV. The situations in the videos are not that much different from today. However, the fashion, hairdos, and resolution of the day certainly are!
