Oh look, Chicken Thursday - and welcome to summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Hang in there, Southerners, the sun is on its way back!

Earthquake ContestThanks to Cybersaltine, D McCormick, who sent along this fun little chicken video which fits our Thursday theme very well! (Click here to watch)

Grandma Cybersalt and I are very much progressing in our recovery. Today I think I was as equally tired from staying up late catching up on work last night as I was from recovering from COVID! Why, in no time I'll be back to my normal tired, lol - though I am working on fixing that too!

Today's video share is of a fun competition to built structures that are earthquake resistant. Here's hoping the building you live in was not designed by most of these students!

Sunday greetings, everyone - and Happy Fathers Day for those of you celebrating that today.

Happy Fathers DayThank you so much for your kind words and prayers for Susan and I. We are recovering nicely. Today we went for a very nice walk and upon returning Susan cut the grass and I had a nice nap. So things are returning to normal, lol. Actually after my nap enjoyed a couple of hours, reclined in the back yard picking weeds out of grass.

Our youngest grandson's 1st birthday party is today. However, even though our quarantine period has just ended, out of precaution and sensitivity to others invited, Grandma Cybersalt and I are skipping. We are going to be joined by our son who is also skipping due to his ongoing recovery from a big dental surgery. It will be nice to spend some relaxed "down" time with him.

Today's video share is of a cool new way to ride on water! I have mixed feelings about this because it looks like lots of fun, but also a lot of work. Not shown in this video is how hard it is to get going on the Hydrofoiler XE-1.

Sunday greetings, everyone.

Today is another abbreviated mailing while we are travelling. Grandma Cybersalt has come down with a bug and slept most of the day yesterday. Please pray she will get better quickly so she can enjoy the rest of our journey.

In other news, I am wondering if any of you would be interested in doing some grammatical polishing on some devotionals a pastor friend of mine is going to write for the Cybersalt site. He is in Pakistan and speaks Urdu as his first language. While his English is better than my Urdu, he does need help from someone to polish what he has written without changing the meaning and intent. If you are interested in helping with this, please let me know - [email protected]

Sunday Greetings everyone!

ss come to JesusOne of the things that the pandemic has left hanging over us is the opportunity to return to places of our past that have not changed, but forever will never be the same because of the people we have lost.

This is very much on my mind because this week Grandma Cybersalt and I will be travelling to my home town for a big family gathering. I have not been with my parents for 3 years and am looking forward to being in the same room as them. However, joining this reunion will be the huge presence of the absence of my sister who passed away at the end of 2021. We will be celebrating her life and finding new ways to continue ours without her.

One of my favorite things to do during a visit home has been to get away and have a visit with my best childhood friend. On this trip I will slip away to visit Darrell's grave for the first time. We will be getting together with his wife and kids at their home. It will be nice to see them, but I am keenly aware that my visit will be another sad first for them.

Today's video is a song I discovered this week. With these things on my mind, it has been a great comfort and reminder of the invitation to come to Jesus for rest.

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

matt shannon photographyThere were no mailings last Sunday and Thursday because grandma Cybersalt were away at our association's Western Conference to report on and promote refugee sponsorship amongst our churches. While there were many very enjoyable moments while we were away, but by far the best was getting to have lunch and spend the afternoon with the Guhl family, pictured here.

Almost 10 years ago, they were hunted in Pakistan because of their faith in Jesus. They fled to Thailand where they waited and waited for another 8 years for a durable solution where they could restart their lives. That new beginning started back in January when they arrived in Melfort, Saskatchewan, sponsored by a local church.

Gathered around the table in this picture are 5 of those newcomers (the 6th is behind the camera) and one of the pastors and wife of the church that sponsored them. The work of rescuing refugees is a long and emotional one. Enjoying a meal with these people and then going for a walk with them in their new community refilled our emotional tanks.

Today's video share introduces us to a robot named "Daisy." Daisy wants something you may have - or may already have given up!

Sunday Greetings everyone and Happy Mother's Day to everyone who are able to celebrate this day!

Sting RussiansOf course, for many this is a difficult day and if that is true of you may God's grace and comfort find you today. Today I am thinking a lot of my mother who is facing the first mother's day since my sister passed away and so there is some sadness in me knowing that it will be a hard day for her.

There was no mailing on Wednesday because it was the last night of our eldest daughter's two week visit with us. By the time we had enjoyed the evening together, and realized it was time to line up a mailing, grandma Cybersalt and I were too tired to do it!

Today's video is one I lined up to share a couple of times but it kept getting put back for one reason or another. But seeing that this is Mother's Day the topic and sentiment make today a good day to share it.
