Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Sometimes the trip to the airport is exciting and other times it is sad. This week's trip was a sad one as we said bye to our eldest daughter and her son after a great week-long visit.

It has been 27 years since I moved out west, far away from my side of the family, and it didn't take long to learn to be thankful family visits had happened instead of being overwhelmed that they were over. Gratefulness might not cure all of our emotions, but it goes a long way to settling many of them down.

Sunday greetings, everyone!

I turned 58 yesterday. It was a wonderful day of celebrating with Grandma Cybersalt, our 3 kids and two of their spouses (Alyssa's husband Matt is away on a one month military reserves course) and our 6 grandchildren. We all sat down at the same table (two tables put end to end) and enjoyed Kentucky Fried Chicken and Dairy Queen ice cream cake (I hope to make it to 59!)

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Grandma Cybersalt and I get to go the the airport tonight to be part of a crowd of people welcoming some newcomers to Canada. Another refugee family is restarting their life and this family is going to be doing it in our community! This is all happening after the family had to flee their homeland many years ago because they took a stand for their faith in Jesus. The group sponsoring and supporting them in this new beginning has also worked and waited for over 3 years to make this possible. God will bless them all!

Sunday greetings, everyone!

Grandma Cybersalt and I are back from our trip back East to visit with our daughter and her family, attend our nephew's wedding and then spend time with my mom, dad, and even more family. It was a very good time which also had its emotional challenges because my mother is in the early stages of dementia. That is especially hard on my Dad, so thank you for your prayers for him and us.

We also got to enjoy seeing the fall colours as we travelled about a 1,000 miles by car during the week. It was a grueling schedule at times, but the scenery helped make up for that. I came down with a bug on the day we were travelling home, and that has been a drag for the last couple of days, but I am grateful that I felt well for the duration of the visit.
