Sunday greetings, everyone.

Ladybower Reservoir Plug HoleI was laying in the backyard last night, picking weeds (not pushing daisies yet!), when my phone rang. It was Ray. Ray is an alcoholic.

I hadn't heard from Ray in over a year, but as I answered the phone I groaned inside and prepared myself for another one of those calls where he, being well into a number of beers, would sloppily tell me what a f^%k up he was and how after the weekend he was going to quit drinking.

But this call was different. Ray was actually calling to catch up and to tell me that he was 8 months sober! What a nice change from the usual script since I first met him 15 years or so ago!

Ray's life story is a hard one, partly due to decisions made by others that affected his childhood and partly due to decisions he's repeatedly made to try and cope. For those of you struggling with addiction in your life, don't give up!  If Ray can be sober for 8 months, you can be too!

Today's video share is a gripping one. Angela Loucks Alexander has a powerful story an some interesting facts and she communicates them very clearly!  "Escaping the Hidden Prison of Auditory Processing Disorder" is a powerful presentation!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

ss whale vs sealThe other day, Grandma Cybersalt sent me an email inviting me to a date: "Invitation: Septic Pump Out @ Thu Aug 4, 2022 8am - 12pm" Of course, I accepted right away because almost everything is better when I do it with Susan!

Actually, the reason behind this invitation was to keep our two calendars in sync and confirm the unspoken arrangement between us that Susan would book the appointment and I would greet the honey wagon when it arrives.

To make sure I keep up my end of the deal, Susan is out of town - but not by design. She flew to Toronto yesterday to bring our grandson back (on the same day) for a summertime visit. However, a storm caused a delay for one of their flights back and they were both stuck in Calgary last night.

This means that Susan will not be home for one other unspoken part of our deal, being: if the political promises tank truck shows up at 8:00am, she will not be able to wake me up to go out and do my part. But I'm not going to make a big stink about that because I know that "stuff" happens. Nothing is going to hit the fan when she gets back!

Speaking of stuff that happens, today's video share is one I may have already featured in the digest. It was filmed a few miles off shore from where we live and involves a killer whale and a seal.  Here's a hint as to whether you want to watch it or not: "The killer whale wins." If you are one who tends to cheer for the seals, you might like to take a pass on this one.

Sunday greetings, everyone.

Ladybower Reservoir Plug HoleI attended a men's group trivia night at our church last night and while driving home afterward I noticed the line up was really short at the local Dairy Queen. We've been having some hot days around Cybersalt World Headquarters and last night was easily one of warmest evenings we will get all year, so when I got home I asked Grandma Cybersalt if she had already had dessert.

She answered that she had, but when I told her about the short line at Dairy Queen she was very enthusiastic to celebrate a second dessert. I think some of her excitement was because she already knew small cones were on sale for 1 dollar, which is fine with me because I had enough points for a free blizzard. So that was a pretty cheap date!

Maybe next we'll go on a date to the grocery store or gas station and see if we get lucky - with the prices that is!

Today's video share, is not only interesting, but it comes with a challenge. While watching it I noticed something really odd. I wonder how many of you will catch it too. Either way, "Ladybower Reservoir's Plug Hole" is pretty interesting - no disrespect intended!

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Alex ShaneIt's a somber, but grateful, week here at Cybersalt World Headquarters. God has taken back a precious gift he gave me 2 years ago. Alex Shane started out as a mentor and business coach and ended up a very close friend. He passed away on Tuesday night, leaving behind a legacy of many other lives that God touched through him. Blessed be the Name of God.

As an update on my shop cleanup, I took a bunch of e-waste (a computer and lots of parts and cables) to the recycling place this week. I'm pretty sure I didn't throw out anything as rare as the computer in today's video share, but if I did, I hope it gets discovered by these restorers working on getting a lunar module guidance computer up and running again!

Sunday greetings, everyone.

bears fishingOne of our granddaughters was over yesterday while her parents had a busy day getting ready for a family road trip they are about to leave on. On the agenda was the usual: pretty much whatever she wanted. This included laying on the grass under the trampoline, catching bugs, a walk to the nearby "zip-line" park, and helping to cook supper (I helped too by hunting down a chicken at Costco.)

I did manage to steal her away to watch the qualifying for tomorrow's marble race on YouTube, cheering on team O'rangers who are in 1st place for the season so far! After that she wanted to watch more videos. I asked her what she wanted to watch and she answered, "Anything!" I explained to her we did not want to just watch anything on YouTube, but after a bit of scrolling I did find something else that would be suitable.

That video (actually a live stream) is today's video. I hope you will enjoy watching "Brooks Falls - Katmai National Park" until you get called for lunch - just like we did!
