Cybersalt News

Sunday greetings, everyone.

Today is another abbreviated mailing while we are travelling. Grandma Cybersalt has come down with a bug and slept most of the day yesterday. Please pray she will get better quickly so she can enjoy the rest of our journey.

In other news, I am wondering if any of you would be interested in doing some grammatical polishing on some devotionals a pastor friend of mine is going to write for the Cybersalt site. He is in Pakistan and speaks Urdu as his first language. While his English is better than my Urdu, he does need help from someone to polish what he has written without changing the meaning and intent. If you are interested in helping with this, please let me know - tim@cybersalt.com

Think of a Number

man thinkingThink of a number.

Multiply it by 3.

Now add 5.

Take away the number you first thought of.

Now add 7.

Subtract 2.

Add back the number you first thought of.

Now, close your eyes.

Dark, isn't it?

Great Truths About Life

child smirk*Great Truths About Life that Children Have Learned*

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.

2) When your Mom is mad at your dad, don't let her brush your hair.

3) Never ask your 3-year-old brother to hold a tomato.

4) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.

5) Reading what people write on desks can teach you a lot.

6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.

7) Puppies still have bad breath even after eating a tic tac.

8) Never hold a dust-buster and a cat at the same time.

9) School lunches stick to the wall.

10) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.

11) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts. No matter how cute the underwear is.

Cybersalt News

Sunday Greetings everyone!

ss come to JesusOne of the things that the pandemic has left hanging over us is the opportunity to return to places of our past that have not changed, but forever will never be the same because of the people we have lost.

This is very much on my mind because this week Grandma Cybersalt and I will be travelling to my home town for a big family gathering. I have not been with my parents for 3 years and am looking forward to being in the same room as them. However, joining this reunion will be the huge presence of the absence of my sister who passed away at the end of 2021. We will be celebrating her life and finding new ways to continue ours without her.

One of my favorite things to do during a visit home has been to get away and have a visit with my best childhood friend. On this trip I will slip away to visit Darrell's grave for the first time. We will be getting together with his wife and kids at their home. It will be nice to see them, but I am keenly aware that my visit will be another sad first for them.

Today's video is a song I discovered this week. With these things on my mind, it has been a great comfort and reminder of the invitation to come to Jesus for rest.

Here is the rest of today's mailing.

Children's Message

squirrel 2A pastor was giving the children's message during church. For this part of the service, he would gather all the children around him and give a brief lesson before dismissing them for children's church.

On this particular Sunday, he was using squirrels for an object lesson on industry and preparation.

He started out by saying, "I'm going to describe something, and I want you to raise your hand when you know what it is." The children nodded eagerly.

"This thing lives in trees (pause) and eats nuts (pause)..." No hands went up. "And it is gray (pause) and has a long bushy tail (pause)..." The children were looking at each other, but still no hands raised. "And it jumps from branch to branch (pause) and chatters and flips its tail when it's excited (pause)..."

Finally one little boy tentatively raised his hand. The pastor breathed a sigh of relief and called on him.

"Well," said the boy, "I know the answer is supposed to be Jesus ... but it sure sounds like a squirrel to me!"

See Food

My niece told all her little friends with pride that she had seen a man-eating shark at the aquarium, to which one of them replied,

"That's nothing! I saw a man eating shrimp at Long John Silver's."

book openOne day a gentleman walked into one of Ben Franklin's book stores.

As one of the clerks went to assist him, the gentleman asked the clerk the price of the book he wished to purchase. The young clerk looked at the price posted on the book and said, "That book is one dollar, sir."

The gentleman began to haggle with the clerk over the price. The clerk assured him that the correct price for the book was one dollar and no lower. As the man realized that his efforts to haggle with the clerk were going nowhere, he insisted on speaking with Ben Franklin directly.

Franklin stopped his work, walked out to the storefront and the gentleman asked, "What is the price of this book?"

Franklin answered, "One dollar and a quarter."

The gentleman was confused and replied, "Your clerk just said it was a dollar."

Franklin looked at the book again and answered, "Yes, it was a dollar. But now you're wasting my time."

catmelonhead150x127.jpgOver the years, some of the most popular pages on the Cybersalt site have featured Funny Cat Pictures. We have to admit that even though cats often look at humans like they owe the feline world something (remember dogs have owners and cats have staff), cats aren't as bad as a lot of the press that they get.

And so, whether you are a cat lover or tolerator, we hope you enjoy these funny cat pictures. And, of course, if you have any funny cat pictures you want to share with the world, feel free to send them to us to post here.

dog_maggie.jpgSome say the world can be divided into two types - cat people and dog people. For the cat people of the planet, Cybersalt has the Funny Cat Archive. For the dog people we have this Funny Dog Pictures archive.

It's dedicated to the memory of Maggie - Pastor Tim and family's dog. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
