Two small twigs in the shape of a cross with a heart-shaped rock to the right on a sandy beach. In the garden, lonesome in grief
His soul came begging sweet relief
Blood-soaked tears poured down like rain,
soaking the path of heart-seared pain

His friends were close, yet could not be
companions in prayer, upon their knees
Betrayed by those He held so dear
Would God, His Father, calm His fear

The crowds who mocked His Holy name
were angry mobs who felt no shame
Enraged demands for His cruel death,
watching and waiting for His last breath

The spikes impaled His tender skin,
This man of sorrow who bore our sin
Looked down with love and offered all,
“Forgive their sin,” His righteous call

Words of forgiveness that still proclaim,
Salvation secured in Jesus’ Name
For you, for me, for all who believe,
His Love freely offered upon that tree

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34).

“But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins” (Matthew 6:15).

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14.).
