A word spoken or written for Christ is not only beautiful, but it may be richly blessed in leading others to confess Him. It is not necessary that we devote all our time to talking about religion. But we should earnstly endeavor to improve every opportunity to speak a fitting word in the interest of our King and His kingdom. When such a word corresponds with our life, it will make an impression.
What kind of words are we noted for? Do people look forward to hearing from us because we bring light to their day? Or are we noted for bringing sadness with what we say?
Christian friends, by exercising proper restraint and by speaking in the wisdom that comes from being yielded to the Holy Spirit, we as Christians can make the Savior's goodness known to others. This in turn may lead to other opportunities to witness to His grace. When we control what we say, we begin to experience the blessings that come to those who offer "a word fitly spoken."
A careless word may kindle strife,
A cruel word may wreck a life;
A timely word may lessen stress,
A loving word may heal and bless.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - A well chosen word can speak volumes.
