Lacking any exciting personal news to share today, I thought I'd do a Google search for "Chicken News" to see if there was an interesting link to share and wouldn't you know it, there was. The restaurant chain Nandos is promising to improve poultry welfare standards by 2026 and has signed up to the Better Chicken Commitment. thepoultrysite.com/news/2020/07/nandos-embraces-improved-chicken-welfare-standards
When asked for their response, chickens answered, "Are they still going to eat us?"
One of the pastors that Cybersalt works with overseas emailed the other day, letting me know his wife and their youngest of 3 children have the flu. While he did not say it was COVID-19, she does work as a nurse in a hospital and it is most likely the pandemic has reached their home. Their country is currently #12 in the world for total cases and in 2019 was #5 in persecuting Christians. In fact, in many parts of their country Christian nurses and doctors are being used on the front lines because other staff who belong to the oppressive national religion do not want to catch COVID-19.
As the West continues to struggle with the pandemic, let's also remember to pray for the vulnerable and persecuted people of the world for whom much misery has been added to their already hard lives..
This Sunday's video is a performance of "Baba Yetu" (Our Father). This song has a very interesting history you can read a: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baba_Yetu
Thanks to Cybersaltine Mike A. for today's chicken picture.
Mike said that this chicken was outside his local food store in Miami, making it one brave chicken in my books. I mean, it's not like it is in front of a Kentucky Fried Chicken store, but just the same I'm impressed!
You may recognize the name of J.I. Packer for his well known book, "Knowing God." Dr. Packer passed away on Friday.
For this Sunday's video share I am featuring the following one where he speaks about an important subject greatly needed in the lives of Jesus' followers.
The current days have all of us remembering different times in the past. This week, beginning with the 3 Stooges, Rev. James Snyder goes down memory lane and ends up with a current mystery about the future. You can read "Those Used To Be the Days" at: www.cybersalt.org/gods-penman/those-used-to-be-the-days
Our daughter and grandson have arrived for an 8 week visit while my son-in-law does some army training in the reserves. Alyssa works for Shopify so she can work wherever there is an internet connection.
Our 7-year-old grandson has a very interesting skill: reminding us of what it was like to be children while at the same time making us realize how old we are getting. Kudos to my wife who is much more willing to hop on the trampoline than I am. Somebody has to drive to the hospital
There was an interesting phenomena in the sky last night. I'm not talking about the lunar eclipse (which we did not see here at Cybersalt World Headquarters) nor am I talking the beautiful full moon that graced our clear skies all night. I am talking about the metallic smell I noticed when I opened our bedroom window as we went to bed.
As I have undoubtedly mentioned before, we live approximately 16 miles across the Salish sea from the USA. Each year, on July the 4th, we can see the celebratory fireworks up and down the coast line of the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. Last night, after all the lights and booms were over and the smoke had cleared the over there, it made over to us. The night sky often holds surprises.
As providence would have it, I watched this video last night about a feature of the sky I knew nothing about! For all the complaining that some do about how bad the internet is, I must say I think there is a whole bunch that is great about it; learning of the existence things like this being one of them. And, of course, connecting with you is another one!
