“Chicken Thursday” has been driving some Cybersalt Digest subscribers around the bend wondering what it refers to. As promised, here is the explanation of what “Chicken Thursday” means.

This story begins way back in 2010 when Tim and I began watching “’Til Debt Do Us Part” with one of our free cable deals. After our 3 months of free cable we cancelled (because now we really knew we couldn’t afford cable), and began watching episodes on-line. I don’t know if many of you watch TV shows on-line, but one of the really neat features is seriously abbreviated commercials. Really, you get like one 15 second commercial and then it’s right back to your show. The only downside of these commercials was that the volume was set differently somehow so that they’d blare out about twice as loud as the volume of the show.

The Cybersalt Award is presented to web sites that make a positive influence on the internet for Jesus Christ.

Jesus teaches his followers to be the salt of the earth. Cybersalt award recipients, through their web pages, have clearly demonstrated their desire to fulfill that command by being cyber-salt in the cyber-world.

Like you, I have been particularly struck and moved by the devastation and horrible aftermath of the 8.9 earthquake, subsequent tsunami, and nuclear threat in Japan.

Throughout the day I pondered how appropriate it would be to send out the Cybersalt Digest in light of the magnitude of the suffering so grippingly relayed by video on the news. I soon decided that taking a day off in observation and respect to those who have been hit with so much would be the right thing to do.
