The Cybersalt Digest

Cybersalt News

Whales in AntarcticaSunday greetings everyone!

The Cybersalt Digest has not gone out since August 5th, so I thought I better check in! Thank you to everyone who has asked if everything is OK.

For the most part, I try to keep my personal gloomy news out of the Digest because I want it to be a source of entertainment and encouragement for you all. After all, we all have trying times and need a break or escape from time to time - and sending out this newsletter is one of those things for me. However, it has been quite a month and that has affected the time and energy required to put mailings together. So I feel the freedom to let you know about this break in routine for me and you.

Back in July, a dear friend's battle with cancer took a turn for the worse and for a number of weeks, leading into early August, we lost her very slowly until she went to be with the Lord on the 4th. It was very hard to lose her, and also to watch her family experiencing a long good bye. Then, on August 5th, a good friend of mine passed away suddenly from what was suspected to be a heart attack or some other medical crisis. I conducted their memorial services on the 13th and 17th. Susan and I are both doing OK, but we certainly do feel drained emotionally at times - plus we have something else going on in our orbit that we cannot share with you, so your prayers for us are appreciated.

At the same time, we have been enjoying lots of family time as our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson have been with us for an extended visit until the 2nd of September. Together, with our other kids and their families we've been having lots of fun, enjoying being together, and taking some vacation time from work. This has definitely also eaten into our Cybersalt prep time.

Also, tomorrow is our 35th wedding anniversary, so there is also lots to celebrate in this packed season we are experiencing!

Today's video share is one that gave me a great laugh and lighthearted moment yesterday. We all need moments like that from time to time!

Enjoy the rest of today's mailing!

Horse Batter

horse coughOn the first day of Spring Training, a baseball scout brings a race horse with him to add to the starting line-up.

The coach asks, "What did you bring that horse here for?"

The scout replies, "Wait until you see him bat."

All the players are laughing, until the horse comes to bat.  At this point, the horse grabs the bat, and everyone quiets down.  They stare at the horse.

The pitcher, just shrugs his shoulders, and throws the ball toward home plate, when astonishingly the horse hits the ball deep in the outfield.

The horse just stands there and does not move.  The manager then yells at the baseball scout to tell the horse to run to first base.

The scout looks back at the manager and yells back, "If he could run, he'd be at Belmont!"

Rev. James Snyder, God's Penman, writes . . . .

Why Do I Have So Many Toes?

Be careful not to hurt your toes!I must confess that I'm not always obvious to everything that is before me. I admit I miss a lot of things set before me. I don’t do this intentionally.

For example, sometimes, when I come home from the church office, I pass the Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage, and she is waving at me, but I don't see her.

When I get home, she confronts me about it. I know it happened because, well, she told me it happened. I wasn't very obvious of the situation at the time.
