Sunday greetings everyone, and happy Father's Day to everyone who is able to celebrate!
Today is the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. It's the first day of summer, which is exciting because it means that there are still 2 months of nice weather ahead, but I know the days will start getting shorter tomorrow, and in a couple of months it will be really noticeable that fall is just around the corner.
Of course, for those of you in the southern hemisphere, today is the shortest day. Tomorrow you can awake knowing that you made it over the dark hump and that the days are soon going to be noticeably longer.
I think you have it a bit tougher than us northerners because our winter solstice is December 21. Christmas and New Year's do help to break things up. But then again, maybe you feel sorry for us that we can't enjoy the nice weather at Christmastime!
Whether the sun is coming or going for you, I pray that God's face of blessing will shine on you wherever you are.
Which brings me to today's video share. I don't know if you enjoy watching talent shows like America's Got Talent or not, but I sure do. This past week, the story of one of the singers on the show impacted me and millions of other people. Before you watch that video, however, please read the singer's guest post on Ann Voscamp's website. The written words of Jane Marczewski (Nightbirde) are just as impactful as the ones she sings.

Dad Sayings
I figured out why they call our language the "Mother Tongue." Fathers never get a chance to use much of it.
Say what you will about healthy eating and all, but I've always found it awfully difficult to explain to my son (who's 6'4" to my 6' in height), why junk food is bad for you.
One time my kids wanted to surprise me with a good breakfast in bed on Father's Day. They put a cot in the kitchen.
If you think about it, Adam had more trouble than any of the rest of us buying his Father a gift for Father's Day. I mean, what do you get somebody who's Everything?
I started early teaching my kids the value of a dollar. From then on, they demanded their allowances in gold.

Husband Diagnosis
Rose accompanied her husband Tom to his annual checkup.
While Tom was getting dressed, the doctor came out and said to Rose, “I don’t like the way he looks.”
“Neither do I,” she said. “But he’s handy around the house.”

Horseshoe Impression
One day a cowboy walked into a blacksmith shop and picked up a horseshoe, not realizing that it had just come from the forge. He immediately dropped it and jammed his hand into his pocket, trying to act as if nothing had happened.
The blacksmith noticed and asked with a grin, "Kind of hot, wasn't it?"
"Nope," answered the cowboy through clenched teeth, "it just doesn't take me long to look at a horseshoe."

Who Doesn’t Like A Girl Scout Cookie?
This week the Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage made a little slip.
To her, it was a little slip, but to me, it was a big mistake. It is not always that she makes mistakes that I can profit on. I don't make this public, especially within her earshot, but there are times that she makes a mistake, and I'm always on the lookout for those times.
When it comes to me, I'm always making mistakes. I'm not sure that I can make a little slip because mine are much bigger. And the problem with this is, the Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage always catches them, and sometimes, I don't know how she does it, she catches them before I actually do them.
