Cybersalt News

AntarcticaSunday greetings everyone!

Last Wednesday I preached this morning.

No I have not been drinking.

My son-in-law pastors at Agincourt Baptist Church in Toronto and invited me to preach today. So I recorded a message last Wednesday for him to play today. I don't yet have the link to the service, but you can click here for their YouTube channel.

Today's video share is old news now, but media we get back from other planets continues to amaze and entertain me, so here is video from the recent rover landing on Mars. If the heavens declare the glory of God (which I believe they do) so does the ingenuity of man, created in God's image!

Wedding Dress Blues

wedding dressWhen my sister Andrea got married, she asked to wear my mother's wedding dress.

The day she tried it on for the first time I was sitting with Mother in the living room as Andrea descended the stairs. The gown was a perfect fit on her petite frame. Mother's eyes welled with tears. I put my arm around her.

"You're not losing a daughter," I reminded her in time-honored fashion. "You're gaining a son."

"Oh, forget about that!" she said with a sob. "I used to fit into that dress!"

Cheerful Giving

girl3A mother wanted to teach her daughter a moral lesson.

She gave the girl a quarter and a dollar for church.

"Put whichever one you want in the collection plate and keep the other for yourself," she told the girl.

Sunday, when they were coming out of the church, the mother asked her daughter which amount she had given.

"Well," said the little girl, "I was going to give the dollar, but just before the collection the preacher said that God loves a cheerful giver. I knew I'd be a lot more cheerful if I gave the quarter, so that's what I did."

Coffee Without Coffee Just Ain’t Coffee

I must soberly confess that I have throughout my life given in to habits and rituals. coffeeI don't like saying that, but it is the truth. At this point, I don't know the difference between a habit and a ritual.

One ritual I have is when I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is have a nice hot cup of coffee. This is what really gets me going in the morning. You do not want to meet me before I have my morning cup of Joe.

There was a time I changed my habit and had hot tea in the morning. I thought that might be a different change in my life. Believe me when I say it was a change. You did not want to meet me after having my hot tea in the morning. In fact, I didn’t even recognize myself after that hot cup of tea.
