Excuses, Excuses

Details
Written by: Marcia Lee Laycock

Teachers hear all kinds of excuses. Like this one -

"You cannot hold me responsible for knowing the material on this test, as I was sleeping during all of your lectures. As you did not wake me up, I assumed that you sympathized with my tiredness and were excusing me from the information being covered. Not needing to know the information, I assumed that I would not have to take a test on it. You might have made some kind of mistake in handing me this test, since I don't have to take it, so I am just writing this to remind you."

Precious Thoughts

"How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly!
I can't even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me?"

Psalm 139:17,18 (LB)

Two of our grandchildren have gone out of state for a few days to visit some of their family. My husband and I are finding it a very lonely time. Daily those two girls bring sunshine into our lives. We miss the hugs and kisses they shower upon us. We miss their laughter. Several times a day we are used to hearing "I love you, Grandma," and "I love you, Granddad," spoken very lovingly.

Bone of My Bone...CLONE of My CLONE??

Adam and Eve started it...no, GOD started it--it was HIS idea.  He took a rib from Adam's side and made Adam a helpmate.  It was a BONE, not a CLONE...and I LIKE His creative idea.  I DON'T like science's idea...and apparently President George W.  Bush doesn't either - check the news link below!

You see, God made man in His own image; He designed a helpmate for Him, bone of his bone, flesh of his flesh...a separate, lovely human being called woman, "taken not from his feet that he might trample her, but from under his heart, that she might be protected and loved by him."

I Want My Daddy!

Details
Written by: Barb Sanders

How many times have you heard, "I want my Daddy!" from your youngsters?

Perhaps you just administered punishment for something they had done, and they thought Daddy would come to the rescue.  I know; I've been down that path with my children!  They would get in trouble about something, and when I wasn't on their side, then, they'd want Daddy to defend them.  Daddy seems to appeal to the kids more than Mom, when punishment seems inevitable.  I suppose they think, since Daddy wasn't around for the 'crime', then Daddy will be more lenient with the 'punishment'.

"The Lord Almighty is a wonderful teacher, and He gives the farmer great wisdom."

Isaiah 28:29 (NLT)

Today my husband and I traveled many miles across our state to attend a memorial service for a member of our extended family. It was a beautiful August day as our car glided around the curves and up and down the hills before we reached our destination.
