Grandma's Lamp

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life."
John 3:16 (NLT)

"The only thing I really want is the lamp by grandma's bed," eight year old Holly made her request known.

It was a busy weekend as the children and grandchildren gathered to go through and separate the things in their mother's house. Just a few short weeks ago cancer had consumed her physical body and she went to be with Jesus.

Time to Pray

Sometimes in the hustle

And the bustle of the day,

I try so hard to stay afloat

That I forget to pray.

And though I know the answer

To my struggle lies in You,

Often You are the last one

That I will turn to.

When life's seas get stormy

And I feel myself fall,

I cast about for a pillar

That holds against the squall.

Till beaten, bruised, and battered

I remember You once more,

And seek the safe harbor

Found upon Your shore.

Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way

I'm not a bookshelf-maker, except for today and the rest of this week. No hammer, nails or wood necessary--this one is make-believe...our DADS are not! They're as real as they come--without them we wouldn't be here! We remember them this week--with pride or pain--depending on each person's subjective experiences and memories. We could each write a book, couldn't we!

God's Cement Factory - Romans 5:1-5

I enjoy "top ten" lists. Whether its "ten deadliest things that bite" or "ten best places to order chili", I just think they are fun and am a sucker for them. I am sure there have been attempts at "modern inventions" top ten list. What inventions have contributed most to making the modern world possible. Sure, I know we are in a post-modern world, but I don't see anyone scrapping anesthetics or the remote control for the T.V. so lets call it the modern world for today.

The Game

Details

I look at the cards that I've been dealt,

And often, to my shame,

I slap my hand to the table

And want to call the game.

I say that its not fair at all

To have to play this hand

When I sat down at this table

It's not what I had planned.
