I remember my grandfather saying: "Of all the texts in the Bible this is one which most of all I prefer to read a second time to my congregation. Then he would send us home, asking us to ponder reverently what we had heard.

The Christian Church of today has lost much of its significance and force, because our heartless age has robbed the word :"Charity" of its deep and precious meaning.  Genuine charity, fervent love toward God and  toward one's fellow man unquestionably is the noblest of all virtues.

St. Paul, actuated by this gift from heaven, declares: "The life that I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." That immeasurable love of Christ toward him engendered in the heart of the Apostle a corresponding love, which caused him to dedicate himself, body and soul, to his Savior, and to do so with holy joy.

Christian friends, in a day when the seeds of hatred, revenge, and retaliation are being sown, we Christians have need to pray frequently for this most excellent gift.

      LORD, teach us the secret of loving,
      The love You are asking today;
      Then help us to love one another
      For this we most earnestly pray.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Don't put off until tomorrow the loving words you can say today.
