How wonderful it is to know that each and every person has worth in God's sight. How good it is to learn that if one person loses the way and forgets God, He begins to search. He searches relentlessly, softly calling that person's name. God seeks, whispers, and ruges.
To be lost to the world is like being dead and not missed; to be found is to be remembered and alive again. God senses the falling away of any person and seeks, yearns, remembers and follows. This gospel lesson tells a parable of a shepherd who goes out to find one lost sheep. He didn't get angry or shout at the sheep or tell it how foolish it was to get lost in the first place. He calls his friends and says,"Rejoice with me, for I have found what was lost." We also hear about the woman who lost a coin and sweeps and searches, then rejoices with friends when it is found.
Christian friends, God has worked lovingly and dilgently by the power of the Spirit to find us and recue us from all that threatens our salvation. It is no wonder that there is a celebration when we turn toward all God has done for us.
Seeking and lost, and pointig to Jesus,
Souls that are weak and hearts that are sore;
Leading them forth in ways of salvation,
Showing the path to life evermore.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY- God's love in our heart gives us a heart for the lost.
