- John 10:3
A common complaint today is that with the coming of the computer we often feel depersonalized. More and more we deal with faceless machines that do not recognize us as individuals, but as numbers to be processed as rapidly as possible. And when the computer malfunctions, it sometimes seems impossible to . . .
"The watchman opens the gate for Him, and the sheep listen to His voice. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out."
- John 10:3
A common complaint today is that with the coming of the computer we often feel depersonalized. More and more we deal with faceless machines that do not recognize us as individuals, but as numbers to be processed as rapidly as possible. And when the computer malfunctions, it sometimes seems impossible to get things sorted back to where they belong. The computer just won't listen to us.
When we feel this way, Jesus' words as recorded by John are especially comforting, He said, "I am the good Shepherd; and I know My sheep. John 10:14. We're not just numbers to Him; in fact, He calls us by name.
Paul writing to Timothy, gave this assuring word that "the LORD knows those who are His" 2 Timothy 2:19. And Jesus indicated that "the very hairs of your head are all numbered" Matthew 10:30
Christian friends, Do you feel neglected? Have friends or family let you down? Does it seem that even the LORD has forgotten you? If so, take comfort in this: The Savior knows who you are and where you are and what you need. You are not just a number to Him. He knows your name.
He knows each winding path I take,
And every sorrow, pain, and ache;
And me He never will forsake,
He knows and loves His own.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - You may be a number that computers can trace, but Christ knows your need, your name, and your face.
