This is Palm Sunday. On this day the Savior entered the Holy City amid
the cheers of a palm-waving, psalm-singing multitude. Perhaps many felt
that Jesus would now announce Himself the Messiah, drive out the
Romans, and take over the rule of His people Israel.
But Jesus had altogether different things in mind. His entrance was a

This is Palm Sunday. On this day the Savior entered the Holy City amid the cheers of a palm-waving, psalm-singing multitude. Perhaps many felt that Jesus would now announce Himself the Messiah, drive out the Romans, and take over the rule of His people Israel.
But Jesus had altogether different things in mind. His entrance was a fulfillment of the old prophecy: "Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, they King cometh unto thee." Before Pilate He explained what kind of a king He is: "I am a King. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world that I should bear witness unto the truth. Everyone that is of the truth heareth My voice." This explains why the multitudes turned away from Jesus on Good Friday.
It is easy to put on celebrations to honor Jesus. What He wants is entrance into the hearts. He died on the Cross to break Satan's power over human hearts and to invade them with His forgiving love and His promise of an everlasting life.
On this Palm Sunday, Jesus comes again. He comes through His Word. We sing: "Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the LORD." Palms in the snctuary, psalms in the congregation, but for every lowly soul the prayer: "Come into my heart, O King of truth."
Christian friends, Jesus didn't promise release from all the suffering in the world. But He did offer forgiveness, peace, eternal life, and a cross. Anything less than taking up that cross in serving Him is shallow allegiance.
Ride on! ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die;
Bow Your meek head to mortal pain,
Then take, O God, Your power and reign.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - To be a Christian is to be a loyal subject of the King of Kings.
PRAY - Almighty and everlasting God the Father, who sent Your Son to take our nature upon Him and to suffer death on the cross that all mankind should follow the example of His great humility, mercifully grant that we may both follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ in His patience and also have our portion in His resurrection. Amen
