"Let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober."
- 1 Thessalonians 5:6
Paul wrote to the Christians in thessalonica, reminding them that the
day of the LORD would come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. His
call to action urged them to avoid spiritual lethargy while remaining
alert and self-controlled. Paul's challenge echoed Jesus' own words
urging His followers to be watchfull, praying, and ready, "for the Son

It is simply impossible for us to lead a truly Christian life without constant self-descipline and watchfulness. As Christians we possess the new life of faith. This new life is beset by the old life of the flesh. Christ lives inus, and we have the mind of Christ, but alongside of this new glory there is the old flesh, which always lusts to sin. This means taht e must constantly be on guard. It will keep us very busy to follow the lading of the Holy Spirit and to deny every temptation of the flesh. In the strength of the life of Christ inus the Spirit will prevail.
Christian friends, Are you living each day as if it were your last? To be prepared for Christ's coming, we need to be sober, watching and praying.
Believe in Christ, redeem the time,
Prepare without delay;
That death is certain should affect
The way you live today.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - We are to be ready for the last moment by being ready at every moment.
