After Paul considered everything he had accomplished in his life, he said that it was all a loss when compared with the greatness of knowing Christ.  This is a profound statment about values.
 
When a person becomes a  Christian, he loses nothing worth having or keeping, but he does lose many things which are in conflict with the new life from God.

Martin Luther said that when a person becomes a Christian an exchange takes place between us and Christ: "Christ takes from us our sin, He gives us His righteousness; He takes from us that which could only hurt us to give us that which can only bless us." Along with the old righteousness which we lose when we become Christians, we should also lose many old habits and attitudes. "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature."
 
Christian friends, To know Christ should be our ultimate goal. Consider your values. Do you place anything above your relationship with Christ? If your priorities are wrong, how will you reorder them?
 
I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold,
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
