Sunday greetings everyone!

On Sundays, I often share with you the audio recording of my sermon from the previous weekend. However, today I have news to share with you.

On October 31, at the end of 21 years as pastor, I will be retiring from Westside Bible Church. In recent months, Susan and I have increasingly sensed God’s leading to pursue and develop ministry to refugees and persecuted Christians. At the same time, I have also increasingly sensed Westside’s need for someone with different strengths than me to serve as pastor.

In other news, you've probably heard that on Monday there is going to be an eclipse in North America. Remember, don't look at the eclipse without proper eye protection and don't look at it with the kind of protection that Fernando used the last time. Oh look, Chicken Thursday.

I asked for chicken pictures last week and I got some chicken pictures! Today's Chicken Thursday shoutout is to Sharon who sent this picture of her grandson Aaron playing with his chicken in a snow tunnel. While I have a few more pictures in the queue, feel free to send more to [email protected]

In other Cybersalt news, I had a real treat today when Cybersaltines Bill and Beth Romahn connected with me during their West Coast travels. Bill contacted me some time ago about wanting to give me his collection of emergency humour reserves from his speech writing days. Amongst many things, he used to write speeches for the Minister of Agriculture when Pierre Trudeau (Justin's dad for you young Canucks) was Prime Minister. Having said that (and lost half of my Canadian readers who just deleted this e-mail), it was nice to sit down with Beth and Bill and talk a little bit of Cybersalt and a bunch of life.

Oh look, Chicken Thursday - and a big shoutout to subscriber Shelia Heil who sent in a picture of her brother's chickens! Not only was that fun, but I got a good laugh out of the filename for the picture: "Roger's Chickens 2017.jpg." Lol, I'm already excited to see what they look like in 2018.

I'm almost afraid to make this a thing, but what the heck. Do you or someone close to have chickens? I guess you better send me a picture of them to [email protected]!
