Having entrusted our lives to Jesus and begun our walk with him, God calls us to live for Him more and more. How we conduct ourselves sexually is part of this calling and the claim He has on us.

We are bombarded by images of sexual desire all around us and thoughts of temptation enter our minds whether we want them or not. In this second part of Pastor Tim's message on sex we see just how futile our efforts can be to block out all the imagery and resist thoughts. This is not to say that we should all just give up and give in but rather we need to be realistic about the war that wages within all of us.
(Please note - you have to listen to the sermon to get the gist of the reference to flamingos. It will help you to know that on this Sunday the front of the church was decorated with 45 plastic, pink flamingos and that everyone arriving at church was asked not to think about pink flamingos.)

Most people would probably live long happy lives going to church every Sunday and never hearing a sermon about sex. It's uncomfortable and for some the mere mention of the topic can open up old wounds. God created sex and he gave it to us to be a pleasurable thing. Sex can also be abused so God left us clear instructions in the Bible to guide us how to live within the borders of sexual purity.

Acts 27 tells the story of Paul becoming shipwrecked on his way to Rome to be presented to Ceasar. God gave Paul very precise and clear messages as to what the passengers needed to do on this doomed voyage to be saved from certain death. God did exactly as he said he was going to do. From this story of Paul's life we can all learn a valuable lesson about how to listen to what God says and trust that he will do it.
