In 1984, college freshman Michael Cole bought two $8.50 tickets to the Chicago Bulls’ season opener, the NBA debut of a rookie named Michael Jordan.
He went alone when his friend bailed, keeping the unused ticket tucked away in a folder labeled “Mike’s Memory Box.”
Nearly 40 years later, Cole saw a torn stub from that same game sell for over $260,000. Realizing his full, unused ticket was one of a kind, he put it up for auction.
It sold for $468,000.
