I don't speak Russian. But I think the story about this cat person goes something like this.
Announcer: "Welcome back. Now we have another story about a crazy person. We know you like these stories so we keep showing them to you. Lot's of people like cats for pets. Cut to story . . . .
Interviewer: "Sonya, you have so many cats! 130 cats in fact. Many people think you are nuts - that your sickle does not quite reach your plow. What do you say to these people."
Sonya: "I am not a crazy woman like so many of my neighbors say. It is not like I have 131 cats! Now that would be goofy. No, I have only 130 cats and I see harmony and balance in that. Please excuse me now, I must send in my weekly transmission to the mothership or this, your home planet, will be destroyed."

Jason Latimer, however, has a lot more finesse than that.
I guess the king of beasts has a soft spot in his heart after all. Of couse this lion may just be sniffing his food for when he gets a chance to escape the cage later - but from the looks of it I doubt it.
I suppose only Jack Hannah or someone else at the San Diego Zoo knows for sure.
