Sunday greetings everyone!
Grandma Cybersalt and I had half a dozen or more birds in a tree on Friday. The cherries in our cherry tree have started to ripen, which means the Robins and Starlings have been helping themselves — and not even with any sort of manners. They’ll take one bite out of a cherry and leave the rest to rot on the branch. So we put up those white nylon nets, the ones we used last year that worked beautifully.
This year, apparently, the nets look an awful lot like spider webs to the little caterpillar-and-spider-eating birds. When we got up Friday morning, there they all were, trapped underneath, and none of them looked like they had the slightest idea how to get out. All day long they tried. By dusk there was still one little fellow stuck inside, so I went out and pulled open a section of the net to give him an exit. He looked at the opening, looked at me, and promptly scared himself down to the bottom of the tree where the net doesn’t reach — and out he flew. Today there were no birds in the net at all. Apparently, they can learn.
Today’s video share is a song I heard yesterday that hit me hard. I’m not a Christian nationalist, and this song says, better than I can, why that is.
