G.I. Excuses
The General went out to find that none of his GIs were there. One finally ran up, panting heavily.
"Sorry, sir! I can explain, you see I had a date and it ran a little late. I ran to the bus but missed it, I hailed a cab but it broke down, found a farm, bought a horse but it dropped dead, ran 10 miles, and now I'm here."
The General was very skeptical about this explanation but at least he was here so he let the GI go.
Moments later, eight more GIs came up to the general panting, he asked them why they were late.
"Sorry, sir! I had a date and it ran a little late, I ran to the bus but missed it, I hailed a cab but it broke down, found a farm, bought a horse but it dropped dead, ran 10 miles, and now I'm here."
The General eyed them, feeling very skeptical but since he let the first guy go, he let them go, too.
A ninth GI jogged up to the General, panting heavily.
"Sorry, sir! I had a date and it ran a little late, I ran to the bus but missed it, I hailed a cab but..."
"Let me guess," the General interrupted, "it broke down."
"No," said the GI, "there were so many dead horses in the road, it took forever to get around them."

Quote #2358
"Children don't often show their pain through talking. They show us their pain through 'challenging behaviour'. As a culture, we need to move beyond seeing challenging behaviour as 'naughtiness' or a choice, and look to what children are desperately communicating.

Message From a Mom to Her Child
I gave you life, but cannot live it for you.
I can give you directions, but I cannot be there to lead you.
I can take you to church, but I cannot make you believe.
I can buy you beautiful clothes, but I cannot make you beautiful inside.
I can give you love, but I cannot force it upon you.
I can teach you to share, but I cannot make you unselfish.
I can teach you respect, but I cannot force you to show honor.
I can advise you about friends, but cannot choose them for you.
I can advise you about sex, but I cannot keep you pure.
I can tell you about alcohol & drugs, but I cannot say "no" for you.
I can tell you about lofty goals, but I cannot achieve them for you.
I can teach you about kindness, but I cannot force you to be gracious.
I can pray for you, but I cannot make you walk with God.
I can tell you how to live, but I cannot give you eternal life.
I can love you with unconditional love all of my life....and I will.

Amid the Doubts
- photo by Susan Page'Faith is not the absence of doubt; it is continuing to follow Jesus in the midst of doubt.' J.D. Greear
Do faith and doubt go hand in hand? It’s an interesting question. Scripture tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
Listening to the sermon on Resurrection Sunday, I wondered why the disciples were not eagerly awaiting Christ’s resurrection. Only Mary, the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene were outside the tomb. This made me think about faith versus doubt.
