Lion Tamer
A man told the ringmaster that he was interested in joining the circus as a lion tamer.
The ringmaster asked if he had any experience and the man said, "Why, yes. My father was one of the most famous lion tamers in the world, and he taught me everything he knew."
"Really?" said the ringmaster. "Did he teach you how to make a lion jump through a flaming hoop?"
"Yes he did," the man replied.
"And did he teach you how to have six lions form a pyramid?"
"Yes he did," the man replied.
"And have you ever stuck your head in a lion's mouth?"
"Just once," the man replied.
The ringmaster asked, "Why only once?"
And the man said, "I was looking for my father."

Even though you didn't make it to the end of my story, I will always have the corner folded down on your page ... because it was one of my favorites.

The witness hesitated.
"But they are unfit for any respectable person to hear," she protested.
"Then," said the attorney, "just whisper them to the judge."

Susan Page writes . . . .
In Love ... Forgive
- photo by Susan PageThe season of Lent is when we focus on Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. The cruelty that took place before and during His death is hard to contemplate, sometimes nearly impossible. I recall closing my eyes in horror during scenes in Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ.
I’ve been thinking about the anguish of Mary, the mother of Jesus. One of the hardest things for a parent to bear is watching their children suffer. I can’t imagine having to witness anything like what Christ’s cruel torture entailed. Like many moms, I’ve had my share of trips to the emergency room with my kids as well as a few hospitalizations. I recall being asked to restrain my youngest while an IV was being inserted into her temple. It was almost beyond me. Yet, that was a small thing compared to what the mother of our Lord went through.
