Gift Parrot

An AI image of a man with his hands raised in a gesture of surprise. There was a man who travelled all around the world.

Every city he stopped in he would buy something for his mother and send it to her.  On one such stop he found a parrot that spoke thirty different languages.  He immediately bought it and sent it home to his mother.  A few days later he called his mother.

"Did you like the parrot?" he asked her.

"Oh yes," she replied. "It was delicious."

"WHAT!" the man cried. "You ate it!  That parrot wasn't for you to eat!  It spoke thirty languages!"

The mother paused for a moment and then said, "So why didn't he say something?"

Lesson in Teamwork: Buddy the Blind Horse 🚗

Side view of a black horse with a white star on its forehead. An out-of-towner drove his car into a ditch in a desolated area. Luckily, a local farmer came to help with his big strong horse named Buddy.

He hitched Buddy up to the car and yelled, "Pull, Nellie, pull!" Buddy didn't move.

Then the farmer hollered, "Pull, Buster, pull!" Buddy didn't respond.

Once more the farmer commanded, "Pull, Coco, pull!" Nothing.

Then the farmer nonchalantly said, "Pull, Buddy, pull!" And the horse easily dragged the car out of the ditch.

The motorist was most appreciative and very curious. He asked the farmer why he called his horse by the wrong name three times.

The farmer said, "Oh, Buddy is blind, and if he thought he was the only one pulling, he wouldn't even try!"

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
- Hebrews 12:1

It All Boils Down to One Thing

oldcoupleOf all the things I have learned, one has made a difference in my life.

I hear stories about how married couples are unhappy. Today, something must be wrong with you if you haven't been divorced and remarried five times.

I always figure that the person who has been married five times hasn't learned anything from their first four marriages. They're going to repeat the same mistakes, over and over.
