Oh look, Chicken Thursday - happy 4th of July to my US subscribers!

The cherry tree at Cybersalt World Headquarters is all picked - by the starlings, crows, robins, and especially racoons. The racoon was especially rude about it because he left all the pits in a pile (literally) by our pear tree. No wonder they wear masks!

Today's video share features giant harmonicas. I had no idea harmonicas came this big and I have been to Texas. Honestly I can't help but smile when I look at them being played. Listening? Well maybe not that much, but looking - definitely!

Howard came home from work one evening and there was his wife Miriam in the kitchen crying out loud.

Road signs are a real indication of what an area is like.

In Virginia you have signs saying DEER CROSSING.

At Yellowstone you have signs saying BEAR CROSSING.

In Africa you have signs saying ELEPHANT CROSSING.

And on Madison Avenue you have signs saying DOUBLE CROSSING.

If you think you love "Freedom" but you don't care if it applies to everyone, what you actually love is "Privilege."

In the dim and distant past
When life's tempo wasn't fast
Grandma used to rock and knit,
Crochet, tat, and baby-sit.
When her kids were in a jam
They could always count on gram.
In an age of gracious living,
Grandma was the gal for giving.

Grandma now is in the gym,
Exercising to keep slim,
She's off touring with the bunch,
Taking clients out to lunch.
Driving north to ski or curl,
All her days are in a whirl.
Nothing seems to stop or block her,
Now that grandma's off her rocker!

- photo by Susan PageOnce a week I have the privilege of sharing lunch with my special needs friend. Often, I need to remind her to use her indoor voice.

I have the opposite problem with my youngest daughter who has the quietest and gentlest voice of anyone I know. Her spirit is much the same. My daughter claims that I need my hearing checked, but trust me, others must strain to catch what my sweet girl is saying.

While there are definite disadvantages to diminished hearing, one positive is that when you are straining to hear someone, it’s necessary to lean in and pay close attention. This means that you must be near the person you are speaking with. This is a picture of intimacy. It is also what our Father God desires in His relationship with us.
