Cybersalt News

Sunday greetings everyone.

ss Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha apaiGrandma Cybersalt and I woke up to a tsunami warning yesterday. That sounds far more dramatic than it actually was because even though Cybersalt World Headquarters is only a few thousand feet away from the ocean it is also about 250 feet above sea level. We were totally safe.

There was a lot of news coverage of the volcanic eruption that spawned the warnings. I must say that volcano has my favourite volcano name of all time: Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai. If we ever get another dog, I might just name it that so I can be heard calling it's name throughout the neighbourhood if he or she ever goes missing!

I tried Googling what Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai means but was unsuccessful in finding any answer. My guess is, "Big Lonely One." That would explain why it desperately waved at millions and millions of people yesterday!

Today's video share is more about the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai eruption.

Road Closed

construction road crewSigns warning of closed roadways are frequently ignored in rural Minnesota, so highway workers barely took notice when a woman drove past their sign and over the hill before she stopped at the trench they had dug in the middle of the road.

The workers explained the detour route to town, and she went on her way.

They were surprised, however, to see the same woman coming toward them from town a couple of hours later.

"Oh," she said distractedly as she pulled up next to the trench crew. "Is it closed in this direction too?"

Arrest Mistake

car dashA man is being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly the light turns yellow just in front of him. He does the right thing and stops at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman hits the roof, and the horn, screaming in frustration as she misses her chance to get through the intersection with him. As she is still in mid-rant, she hears a tap on her window and looks up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer orders her to exit her car with her hands up. He takes her to the police station where she is searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approaches the cell and opens the door. She is escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer is waiting with her personal effects. He says,

"I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping the guy off in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him.

"I noticed the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me to Sunday School' bumper sticker, and the chrome plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk.

"Naturally I assumed you had stolen the car."

I Just Kissed Yesterday Goodbye

zebra looking backFocus is an essential part of getting something done. Sometimes my focus is more on yesterday than it is today. I waste a lot of time looking backward.

The Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage often rebukes me because I look in the past. I talk more about yesterday than I do today. On the other hand, she is always focused on today and what can be done today.

I look back and see yesterday and what I didn’t accomplish. I try to relive yesterday, and it never works.
