Cybersalt News

earth 2Sunday greetings everyone!

Today, Grandma Cybersalt and I are going to a church building to participate in a worship service for the first time since March of 2020. I realize that's an odd way of saying "Today we are going to church" but let me explain.

I don't think worship only happens in a church building. Worship is showing reverence and adoration to God. That can be done in many ways and in many places. Throughout the pandemic we worshipped with our church family through tuning into the streaming of our church's worship team and pastors leading us over FaceBook or YouTube. Songs and sermons were heard, and communion taken with reverence and adoration.

I also I don't think worship is only singing and listening to sermons. If you can do it with reverence and adoration to God, it is worship. How you drive to work, treat your neighbours, speak to annoying people, file your taxes, and more is just as important worship as what takes place in church (maybe even more in some cases.) This truth brings a perspective to every aspect of our lives that can transform even the most mundane of places into a cathedral and make the the smallest of acts equal to the greatest performance of any angelic choir.

Don't get me wrong, the Bible teaches God's children to gather together to worship and I'm super excited for gathering in person again! But let's not limit worship to one place and one activity.

Today's video share is also about perspective. This video shows something we all know, but something we probably don't have an accurate perspective on. We know the earth is rotating, but this video shows it really is!

Environ-mental

chopsticks 1My friend Ann and I were eating at a Chinese restaurant. When an elderly waiter set chopsticks at our places, Ann made a point of reaching into her purse and pulling out her own pair.

"As an environmentalist," she declared, "I do not approve of destroying bamboo forests for throwaway utensils."

The waiter inspected her chopsticks.

"Very beautiful," he said politely. "Ivory."

Memory, Organization, Routine

piano 2It seems like every time our piano tuner John comes to our house, he scolds me for waiting too long between tunings. I agree with him that it should be done every six months, but I don't really think about it until the piano sounds off-key.

The last time he came over, I was on the defensive. "If you would send out a postcard reminder like the dentist does every 6 months," I declared, "I would make sure to call you for an appointment in a timely fashion."

Without hesitating, he replied, "OK -- from now on, when the dentist sends you a postcard, call me."

Will We Be Served Coffee in Heaven?

cappuccino 756490 640The last several weeks have truly been hectic in every sense of the word. Trying to catch up can be a never-ending job. When I think I’m caught up, I see another thing I need to do.

I have learned that kicking the can down the street only hurts your big toe.

With so much to do lately, it's hard to prioritize what should come first. The one thought rattling through my brain is, will anybody know if I don't do this job?

It doesn’t have to rattle too long before I come to the answer to that inquiry.
