Good Morning 11-02

"I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one."
- John 17:22

God's power and glory are never far apart. So it is also with Jesus, God's Son. All power is given to Him in heaven and on earth, and from the Father He has received also glory. This glory Jesus gives to all who believe in Him.

God's power and glory as reflected in the life of Jesus are sometimes hard to discern. Our LORD speaks of His death, His being lifted up on a cross, as having the power to draw all people to Him and as being the time of glory. Christ's death, our human eyes see no power and glory here.

The eye of faith sees beyond the unpleasant exterior. It sees behind it how the love of God was poured out for us. The eye of faith sees our sins atoned and paid for on the cross, so that we can rejoice in the forgiveness that God offers us in His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus' act of self-sacrifice marks the moment of His greatest power and glory.

Christian friends, The power and glory draws us to the foot of the cross, there to receive power to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth, and there to see the glory of the grace of God. We as followers are called to the same kind of self-giving love that the LORD Jesus manifested.

      Give me, Savior, a purpose deep,
      In joy or sorrow Thy trust to keep;
      And so through trouble, care, and strife,
      Glorify Thee in my daily life.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Circumstances that imprison us cannot limit God's work through us.
