{mosimage}Last Saturday night (Oct 09) the Pastor of Disaster (Tim Davis) returned to the track at Western Speedway, Victoria.
Pastor Tim was driving backup for Chris Broughton in the #37 Cybersalt.org, Spyware Nuker, SOS Auto, OHOH Towing, Voortman's Cookies, Commonwealth Promotions, Chevy Camaro. He timed in with the fastest qualifying lap of his class that evening. This put him at the back of the pack for the start of each race.
The evening began with a 4 car/4 lap shoot out trophy dash. After avoiding a potential wreck in the first turn of the race, POD finished 3rd.
In the only heat race of the evening, Pastor Tim had worked his way up to 3rd position when the yellow flag was thrown bringing the race's only caution to the track after season points leader #39 was hit from behind and spun (unable to make repairs in time for the main event). On the restart, Pastor Tim got a good jump on the 2nd place 69 car (passing him on the inside) and moved on to battle the 52 car for the lead, taking it on the second last lap. He took the checkered flag with a 2-3 car length lead.

The main event featured an action filled start as the pack passed through a very slippery turn three first groove with the 55 car spinning in front of Davis as he himself fought to keep (and kept) control of his own almost sideways racecar. As the leading 5 or 6 cars battled for position, POD worked to catch up - watching for an opportunity to gain position should the group wreck. After battling throughout the race into 2nd position, Pastor Tim once again began to catch up to the 52 car, only to see the checkered flag thrown with 6-8 car lengths more to be gained.
