Sunday greetings, everyone!catfish

The cold air has departed and the rain has returned, "shoveling" the snow away for the last couple of days around Cybersalt World Headquarters. The forecast is calling for 7 days of rain with temperatures between 5 and 7 degrees Celsius - and I don't mind that at all!

Today's video share is actually a link to an entire channel that helps people find out if their online relationships are actually with scammers. These pretenders keep asking for money and promising to meet in person, only to always have an excuse. The reason I share it is because it's important to get the word out that there are people taking advantage of others online by pretending to like/love them.

And fair warning: some of the things discussed in these videos and some of the thumbnails and language on this channel aren't things I would usually have on my site or in this newsletter. But, again, I think it is important to spread knowledge of this terrible scourge preying on lonely and hurting people.

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

3 year old pianistWe got enough snow at Cybersalt World Headquarters yesterday for me to go out and do some shoveling. If you live anywhere that gets enough snow to shovel, you will know the frustration of clearing the end of your driveway only to have the city snowplow bury it again when it passes by.

So there I was, standing at the end of my driveway when I saw the plow coming down the road. I decided the operator had probably already suffered enough abuse from end-of-the-driveway shovelers that morning, so I planned on waving and smiling as he passed by. As he approached I put my gloved hand in the air to give him a wave, but I noticed he wasn't paying an attention. However, right when he got up to me I could tell he noticed me out of the corner of his eye - standing there with my hand up towards him. I really hope he also saw I was smiling!

Today's video share is of a three-year-old who plays the piano better than I do. I actually don't play the piano, but that doesn't change the fact that it's painful that a three-year-old can!

Sunday greetings, everyone!tidy mouse

Wow, is it every cold at Cybersalt World Headquarters! My dad has a saying for how cold it is, but like a lot of sayings that dad's have. I can't print it here, lol, but trust me, it really is that cold!

Today's video share has me rethinking my strategy about keeping mice out of the house (not that I have any complaints about Grandma Cybersalt!)

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

Niagara Falls collapseIt looks like winter is actually going to make an appearance at Cybersalt World Headquarters this year (as in this winter.) The forecast is a stormy and chilly one, with the temperatures predicted to go as low as -9 Celsius over the next 6 days.

I was hoping to not have to blow the water out of our lawn sprinkler system this year, but today I relented and did so because that little bit of work is much better than the lot of work that would be required to fixed burst lines when they froze.

Today's video share is of a rock slide at Niagara Falls. It took place some time ago, but the "old timey" way the story was covered is part of the fun.

Sunday greetings, everyone!Madaan Family Visit

There was no mailing last Chicken Thursday because we were too busy to put a digest together while entertaining our guests from India. Chetan Madaan is a friend I made online though work we did a few years back. After that work was over our friendship remained and has grown. They arrived on December 30 and we made lots of happy memories, my favorite of which were times we got to share our kids and grandchildren.

Today's video share is cool look at Massive Care Carrier Ship.

Oh look, the last Chicken Thursday of 2023!

world record drone showGrandma Cybersalt's and my Christmas experienced some last minute changes when our granddaughter tested positive for COVID on Christmas Eve. That resulted in us going nowhere on Christmas morning to open presents. Instead we slept in, had Susan's sister over for a visit and then the three of us enjoyed a wonderful turkey dinner that I picked up from the main gathering of family and friends who were already infected or exposed!

Today's video share is of a recent world record drone show. They tried for 1,500 drones, and pulled it off with 1,499. If you watch closely you can catch glimpses of the one drone that didn't want to play!"

Christmas Eve greetings, everyone!Tim and Susan Christmas 2023

Once again this season finds us hearkening to Christmases past as a blueprint to reference the recreation of the traditions and conditions that have comforted us for years. For many, it is a happy time because everything required for this festive reconstruction has endured another 365 days.

However, others have found that the same cupboard that has always stored the bounty from which they have been able to retrieve what they desired to deck their hearts with warmth of family and community, is now missing some of their most favorite and cherished "things." Military service, prison sentences, estrangement, poor health, the passing of loved ones, and more, have lightened, or stripped bare altogether, their shelves - leaving only a dusty outline of those who once filled the storehouse of their heart.

These painful reminders of loss assault our senses and risk dragging us captive to dark places, where no positive thought may be entertained nor hope whispered. But, through eyes of faith we can look past what is gone and see Who has always been there: the Creator of the shelves, the cupboard and the world that holds it. It was into that same world that he entered as a man to defeat the cause of everything that has ever been, or will be, lost: death.

Grandma Cybersalt and I hope and pray that, regardless of whatever the fulness or emptiness you are experiencing today, that you have a blessed Christmas as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, come to save us from the penalty of our sins and restore us to a right relationship with our Creator and Father in Heaven.

Today's video share is one that has probably not yet happened for most of you: one of the Christmas Eve Services at our church. You can watch it live (or replay it) at:
