Inspiration

Preachers are the absolute worst people to listen to sermons. So here is the prayer I use to prep myself:

Lord, save me from compare, contrast, critique. Move me from cerebration to celebration. Free me to hear You in and through your messenger today. Amen.

One day at the veterinarian's office where I take my dog,  the receptionist and a man were verbally sparring with one another. After a few tense moments, a technician came to her co-worker's defense.

"Sir," she interjected, "are you aware of what happens to aggressive males in this office?"

On the road one day, a man and a woman smashed their cars together in a terrible car wreck. Both vehicles were totaled, but fortunately neither person was injured.

The woman said to the man, "Thank goodness we're both okay! We should celebrate. I have a bottle of wine in my car, so let's open it and toast the fact that we survived this wreck."

The man agreed and the woman opened the bottle of wine and handed it to him. He took a huge swallow and handed it back. The woman closed the bottled and set it down by his car. The man asked, "Aren't you going to take a drink?"

"No," the woman said. "I think I'll just wait for the cops to get here."

"I can think of no other time in history where the name of Jesus has been so frequently mentioned and the content of His life and teaching so thoroughly ignored."
