Visiting St Patrick's Cathedral on a tour of New York City, my daughter and her children were awed by the sight.
The kids were especially curious about the votive candles, so my daughter asked if they'd each like to light one.
Jim had an awful day fishing, sitting on the lake all day without a single bite. On his way home, he stopped at the supermarket and ordered four catfish.
He told the fish salesman, "Pick out the four largest ones and throw them at me, will you?"
"Ok. But, why do you want me to throw them at you?"
"Because I want to tell my wife that I caught them."
The road to the patent office is paved with good inventions.

After the recent interruption in mailings, today marks the return of Rev. James Snyder's ongoing column. Today's video share isn't a video. I recently ended up on an amazing "Google Earth" type site - only for our solar system. You can scroll in and out and also search for specific planets, moons and other things. It's an amazing perspective on the neighbourhood of the beautiful planet God has placed us. Simply go to www.solarsystem.nasa.gov, and click on the "orbit" graphic in the top menu (pictured below).

A young man confided to his mother that he had proposed to his girlfriend and they were going to get married.

My husband retired, and for the first time in over 40 years I had to think about preparing midday meals.
Tired of it after several months, I said, "I married you for better or worse, but not for lunch."
"Fair enough. From now on I'll make my own," he replied.
A few weeks later he had to go downtown on business and invited me to join him afterwards.
"We could have lunch at that Chinese place we both like," he suggested.
I happily agreed. At the restaurant the next day we were seated, and the waitress came to take our order.
My husband looked up, a twinkle in his eyes and said, "Separate checks, please..."

I am not very agile when it comes to finances. Do not get me wrong, I know how to spend money; it is just that I do not know how to save money. Somewhere I lost my little piggy bank.
One of my father's favorite quotes was, "A penny saved is a penny earned." It never made sense to me, but my father knew how to save money. On the other side, he was not very agile when it came to spending money especially on me.
My whole life has never been focused on making money. For me, the outdoor was busier than the indoor with money. I must confess my wife and I have struggled throughout our life on the financial side. On the relational side, we have done wonderfully; at least that is my impression.

It's dedicated to the memory of Maggie - Pastor Tim and family's dog. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
