Cybersalt News

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!

blooms strobe animationI dropped by our daughter's the other day to pick up a pair of slippers that Grandma Cybersalt had left there earlier in the day when she was helping out with the grandkids. While I was there my son-in-law invited me to see his latest toy. Of course, I was keen to see his latest purchase, which turned to be a 3D printer.

I've been considering getting a 3D printer to play around with, but right now I don't have the brain bandwidth to learn something new. After all, it's all I seem to do everyday in my work so if I am going to play with something new it needs to use a different part of my brain.

When/if I do get a 3D printer someday, I think it would be fun to print up a shape like those appearing in today's video share. Of course I will also have to print up a strobe light to achieve the same effect as these "Strobe Animated Sculptures Invented by John Edmark."

Enjoy the rest of today's mailing!

Yet Another Night Before Christmas

desk 3Boy! Are Australians ever keen for writing "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" variations. Kevin Clark wrote the following one from scratch after getting a few different versions from the CleanLaugh list several years ago.

So, thanks for the new material Kevin - debuting on the CleanLaugh list even!

"Yet another Night before Christmas"

'Twas the week before holidays and on my PC
200 emails for me to see.
I got so excited, I fell off my chair -
Somebody loves me, somebody cares.

But, I should have remembered what happened before;
It was the same as last year. Only this time there's more.
I had 200 emails, each with the same theme
It was all way too much, I could almost scream.

Every new message had the same first line
"'Twas the night before (whatever)" for the 200th time.
It seems that each year the creative juices flow,
But after hours of typing there's nothing to show.

So we try to remember and suddenly recall
The only Christmas Rhyme that's known to all.
"I'll write a spoof" we say to our self
As we grab the thesaurus from the dusty bookshelf.

We write about leftovers that we eat for a week;
We write about shopping and our poor aching feet.
There's Christmas in Texas and building the toy house,
All sent to cyberspace at the click of a mouse.

So how about, this year, we do something strange.
We stop sending emails and talk for a change.
Talk to friends or strangers if you like.
Say, "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

A Christmas Prayer

church crecheMost Holy & Majestic Father,

There's so much "hype" around Christmas time. I have to admit that I enjoy all the jolly jingle and festive frolic as much as anyone. But, Lord, as I enter into the fast-paced season ahead, help me walk slowly and quietly.

Let me stop and listen to the angels sing of the greatest news ever told!

Let my heart, mind and soul join the chorus, "Glory in the Highest!! The Messiah has been born!"

Among all the bright sparkling lights and cheery holiday tunes, let my spirit travel once again toward Bethlehem to honor and worship Jesus, my King, The Prince of Peace, the Lord of Hosts, Mighty Counselor, Son of God, the Lamb. All Your love, mercy and power somehow made flesh in the tiny form of a humble baby born in a manger. Let me worship the only One who is able to take our sin away and reconcile men and women with God once again!

Amen

Home For Christmas

picture of a winter stormA woman was waiting in the check-out line at a shopping center.  Her arms were laden with a mop and broom and other cleaning supplies.

By her actions and deep sighs, it was obvious she was in an extreme hurry and was not happy about the slowness of the line.

catmelonhead150x127.jpgOver the years, some of the most popular pages on the Cybersalt site have featured Funny Cat Pictures. We have to admit that even though cats often look at humans like they owe the feline world something (remember dogs have owners and cats have staff), cats aren't as bad as a lot of the press that they get.

And so, whether you are a cat lover or tolerator, we hope you enjoy these funny cat pictures. And, of course, if you have any funny cat pictures you want to share with the world, feel free to send them to us to post here.

Funny Dog Pictures Article Count:  149

dog_maggie.jpgSome say the world can be divided into two types - cat people and dog people. For the cat people of the planet, Cybersalt has the Funny Cat Archive. For the dog people we have this Funny Dog Pictures archive.

It's dedicated to the memory of Maggie - Pastor Tim and family's dog. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
